12W LED solar lighting system priced at ₹17,000; scheme available to rural local bodies and eligible institutions

Additional Deputy Commissioner Vivek Arya said the Department of New and Renewable Energy has launched a solar street-light scheme for rural areas, under which a ₹4,000 government subsidy is being provided to eligible panchayats.
Applications are being accepted at the New and Renewable Energy branch of the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office. The lights will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Under the scheme, a 12-watt LED-based solar street-light system with a 75-watt solar panel, 12.8-volt 30Ah battery and remote monitoring system is available at a total cost of ₹17,000. The government subsidy will cover ₹4,000, while the beneficiary will contribute ₹13,000.
Gram panchayats, panchayat samitis, zila parishads, government institutions and non-profit organisations can avail themselves of the scheme for installation of solar street lights in rural areas.
Arya said the rate contract for the systems, arranged through the Directorate General Supplies and Disposals, Haryana, remains valid till January 28, 2027.

Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) are providing affordable financial protection to citizens.
He said forms for both schemes are available at banks and post offices. Under PMJJBY, people aged 18 to 50 years can enrol by paying an annual premium of ₹436 and receive life insurance coverage of up to ₹2 lakh.
Under PMSBY, citizens aged 18 to 70 years can obtain accident insurance coverage of up to ₹2 lakh for an annual premium of just ₹20.
The premium is automatically debited from the linked bank or post-office account, while eligible claim amounts are directly credited to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Meena urged eligible citizens to contact their nearest bank branch or post office and take advantage of the social-security schemes.
Applications Invited for Subhash Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award 2027

Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said applications have been invited for the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2027, instituted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to recognise outstanding contributions and selfless service in the field of disaster management.
Eligible applicants can submit their applications online through the designated awards portal by September 30, 2026.
The annual award is announced on January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Both Indian citizens and Indian institutions are eligible to apply.
Institutions eligible to apply include voluntary organisations, corporate bodies, academic and research institutions, response or uniformed forces and other organisations working in disaster management.
Meena said applicants should have made significant contributions in areas such as disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, rescue, response, relief, rehabilitation, research or innovation.
Applications must include details of the work undertaken in the field of disaster management. Further information regarding eligibility and the application process is available through the National Disaster Management Authority’s official portal.
