Thousands of youngsters, social and religious organisations to join 3-km march; special programmes planned from August 9 to 17

Kurukshetra district is set to witness a series of programmes celebrating the spirit of Independence, national unity and the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle, with special events scheduled from August 9 to 17 under the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026, the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, while reviewing preparations, said the programmes would aim to reconnect citizens, particularly the younger generation, with the memories of the freedom struggle and the country’s democratic values.
The major highlight will be a nearly 3-km Tiranga Yatra from Pipli Grain Market on August 10. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will flag off the march. Thousands of youngsters, members of social and religious organisations and citizens are expected to participate, carrying the national flag and conveying a message of patriotism and national unity.
The administration will also distribute national flags among participants to encourage citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes during the campaign.
Meena directed all departments to ensure maximum participation through schools, colleges, universities, resident welfare associations, youth clubs, social organisations, self-help groups and local communities. He said the programmes should go beyond ceremonial activities and be transformed into a people’s movement.
As part of the campaign, the district will organise Tiranga and Vande Mataram exhibitions, bike and cycle rallies, e-bike rallies, Tiranga concerts, patriotic rangoli competitions, digital campaigns and district-, block- and panchayat-level programmes. Special selfie points will also be established to encourage citizens to participate in the Selfie with Tiranga campaign.
Government buildings, hospitals, educational institutions, markets, bridges, parks and other prominent public places will be decorated in the colours of the national flag. The administration has also directed officials to document the programmes through photographs and videos and promote uploading of selfies on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal.
The DC stressed that the Flag Code of India must be strictly followed during all events.Preparations were also reviewed for the district-level Partition Horrors Remembrance Day programme on August 14. The administration plans exhibitions, documentary screenings, cultural programmes and presentations highlighting the experiences of families affected by Partition.
