District Legal Services Authority organises multi-department outreach programme to improve access to justice, welfare schemes and citizen services

In a significant initiative to promote legal awareness and improve public access to government services, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Yamunanagar, in collaboration with the District Education Department, organised a Mega Legal Services Camp at Janata Group of Institutions, Saraswati Nagar. The camp brought together several government departments under one roof to provide free legal aid, information on welfare schemes and a wide range of citizen services.

Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sumitra Kadian attended the programme as the chief guest. She visited various departmental stalls, interacted with officials and reviewed the services being provided to citizens.

Addressing the gathering, CJM Sumitra Kadian urged people to remain aware of their legal rights and take advantage of the free legal assistance available through the District Legal Services Authority whenever required. She said such outreach programmes play a vital role in ensuring that justice and government welfare schemes reach every section of society, especially those living in rural and economically weaker communities.

She emphasised that access to justice should not be limited by financial or social barriers and that legal awareness camps help bridge the gap between citizens and government institutions. She also appreciated the coordinated efforts of different government departments in providing multiple services at a single location.

The camp featured information and service stalls from the District Education Department, Health Department, Social Welfare Department, Women and Child Development Department, Institute of Hotel Management, Lead Bank, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Labour Department, Fisheries Department, Animal Husbandry Department, MSME Department, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and Roadways Department.

In addition, ITI Yamunanagar, Utthan Sansthan, the Red Cross Society, Disaster Management Department, Aadhaar and Driving Licence Services, Forest Department, Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Women’s Police Station, Solar Cell of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Municipal Council, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission also participated in the programme.

Officials at the respective stalls provided detailed information about government welfare schemes, employment opportunities, skill development programmes, health services, banking facilities, financial assistance, women’s safety initiatives, environmental conservation and rural development programmes. Citizens also received guidance on certificates, public services and grievance redressal.

One of the key highlights of the camp was the availability of free legal counselling along with banking and loan-related guidance, enabling visitors to receive legal and financial assistance at a single venue. A large number of residents visited the camp, interacted with officials and learned about the process of availing various government schemes.

Organisers said the programme was aimed at strengthening legal literacy, improving awareness about citizens’ rights and making government services more accessible to the public. The event was jointly organised with the support of the District Legal Services Authority, District Education Department, Janata Group of Institutions and Gram Panchayat Saraswati Nagar.
