The Ayush Department, in collaboration with the district administration, has intensified preparations for the ‘Nashe Se Jung – Yamunanagar Ke Sang’ awareness marathon scheduled for July 26, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini set to attend the event as the chief guest.
A review meeting chaired by District Ayurvedic Officer Dr Rajneesh was held at the Ayush Department office to assess arrangements related to route planning, security, participant registration and awareness campaigns.
Dr Rajneesh said the department has been conducting village-level outreach under its Yoga-Yukt Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, with Ayush Yoga Assistants and Medical Officers educating people about the harmful effects of drug addiction through yoga sessions, awareness camps and monthly anti-drug pledge programmes.
He said thousands of yoga practitioners from various yoga centres across the district have already completed online registration for the marathon through the department’s mobilisation campaign.
Dr Rajneesh emphasised that yoga, Ayurveda and a healthy lifestyle can play a significant role in protecting young people from substance abuse.
He appealed to Gram Panchayats, educational institutions, social organisations and citizens to participate in large numbers and support the vision of building a healthy, drug-free Yamunanagar.
