College management members and students participate in the tree plantation programme organised under the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign at Maharaja Agrasen College, Jagadhri.

Maharaja Agrasen College, Jagadhri, organised a series of activities under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign-2026 to promote patriotism, environmental awareness, creativity and social responsibility among students. The programme was also organised to mark the birth anniversary of late Lala Des Raj Goyal, a founder member of the college and former president of the College Governing Body.
The programme brought together several meaningful activities, including a tree plantation drive, distribution of saplings, an exhibition-cum-sale of student-made products, a rangoli competition and the distribution of scholarship cheques to talented and needy students. The initiatives were aimed at connecting the spirit of patriotism with environmental conservation, creativity, self-reliance and community participation.
Members of the college management committee participated in the plantation drive and planted fruit-bearing trees on the college campus in memory of late Lala Des Raj Goyal. The organisers said the initiative was intended as a tribute to his contribution to the institution and his values of social responsibility.
Around 50 trees and plants were also distributed among participants, encouraging students and other members of the college community to take the message of environmental conservation beyond the campus. The organisers emphasised that planting a tree is not merely an environmental activity but also a commitment towards creating a healthier and greener future for coming generations.
The plantation programme reflected the institution’s efforts to encourage students to understand their responsibilities towards nature and society. The organisers said that environmental protection requires continuous participation rather than being limited to a single day or occasion.
The event also featured an exhibition-cum-sale organised by the Department of Cultural and Vocational Arts, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
A variety of handmade and artistic products prepared by the students were displayed for visitors. The exhibition provided a platform for students to present their skills while also giving them practical exposure to creativity, presentation and self-reliance.
The initiative was particularly significant as it linked education with practical activities and encouraged students to explore their creative potential. The organisers said that such platforms help students develop confidence and understand how creative skills can also contribute to entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency.
Adding further colour and enthusiasm to the celebrations, a rangoli competition was also organised on the college campus. Students participated enthusiastically and created colourful rangolis depicting themes related to patriotism, Indian culture, environmental protection and national unity.
The rangoli competition gave students an opportunity to express their creativity while connecting their artistic work with the larger message of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The organisers said that the participation of students demonstrated their enthusiasm for national celebrations and their willingness to contribute creatively to socially relevant initiatives.
The programmes were conducted under the supervision of Dr Veera and Ms Seema Jain.
College Principal Dr Karuna appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of combining patriotism with responsibility towards the environment. She said that planting trees should not be viewed merely as an environmental activity, but as a commitment towards the future.
She encouraged students to participate actively in such initiatives and develop a sense of responsibility towards society. She said that responsible citizens are those who contribute positively to their communities and understand that national development is closely linked with environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
Dr Karuna also appreciated the efforts of faculty members, students and the organising team for making the programme meaningful and successful.
The event also included an important educational support initiative. Members of the College Governing Body distributed scholarship cheques among talented and needy students. In another gesture of support, a member of the governing body adopted one student and took responsibility for meeting the student’s educational expenses.
The scholarship initiative provided additional significance to the programme as it reflected the institution’s commitment to supporting students who may require financial assistance to continue their education. The organisers said that helping deserving students pursue their studies is also an important form of social responsibility.
Programme coordinator Prof. Gaurav Bareja said that the plantation drive was a humble tribute to the memory and legacy of late Lala Des Raj Goyal.
He said the initiative was intended to convey the message that patriotism is not expressed only through national symbols and celebrations, but also through responsible actions towards the country, society and environment.
Prof. Bareja appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members in the tree plantation drive, scholarship distribution, exhibition and rangoli competition.
