Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena Urges Citizens to Learn About the Tricolour, Upload Selfies and Strengthen the Spirit of Nation First

Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena has urged citizens to conduct their lives with a sense of respect for the national flag and a “nation first” approach, saying that the Tricolour represents the country’s identity, honour, self-respect and collective resolve.
He said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has now developed into a people’s movement, with citizens across Kurukshetra participating in activities aimed at strengthening their emotional connection with the national flag. He appealed to residents of the district to visit the Har Ghar Tiranga exhibitions being organised at different locations and gain information about the significance, history and rules associated with the national flag.
Meena visited the exhibition organised by the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department at the Mini Secretariat on Tuesday and reviewed the information being displayed for the public. He said the exhibitions have been organised to encourage citizens to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and understand the importance and dignity associated with the national flag.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the Har Ghar Tiranga exhibition will be held at the New Mini Secretariat on August 13 and 14, while an exhibition will also be associated with the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. On August 16 and 17, the exhibition will be organised at Brahma Sarovar.
Similar exhibitions have also been established at the offices of the Sub-Divisional Officers in Ladwa, Shahabad and Pehowa, ensuring that citizens in different parts of the district have access to information about the Tricolour and the campaign.
Meena said the exhibitions provide detailed information about the national flag and are intended to make citizens more aware of its significance and the rules governing its display and use. He said the Tricolour is no longer confined to government buildings but has become closely associated with every household, family and citizen.
The Deputy Commissioner said the exhibition explains several aspects related to the national flag, including the materials that can be used for making it. According to the information presented at the exhibition, the national flag can be made from materials including polyester, wool, silk and khadi, subject to the applicable provisions.
He also highlighted the importance of following the Flag Code and other applicable rules governing the national flag. He said citizens should be aware that no letter, word, sentence or slogan should be written on the national flag.
The exhibition also provides information about the history and design of the Indian national flag. Meena said the original design of the national flag is associated with Pingali Venkayya, while the Tricolour has since become one of the most important symbols of India’s national identity.
He also highlighted the significance of the Ashoka Chakra, which appears at the centre of the national flag and has 24 spokes. Citizens are being provided information about the proper display and handling of the national flag so that the dignity of the Tricolour is maintained.
The Deputy Commissioner also referred to rules concerning the display of the national flag on vehicles and the proper manner of folding the flag. He urged citizens to familiarise themselves with these provisions so that participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is accompanied by appropriate respect for the national flag.
Meena appealed to residents to upload their selfies with the Tricolour on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal. Citizens participating through the portal can receive a digital certificate after completing the process.
He said the national flag represents the country’s honour, dignity and self-respect and that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign reminds citizens of their constitutional values and their commitment towards nation-building.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that Vande Mataram has completed 150 years, and various programmes are being organised in the district to mark the occasion. He suggested that the Vande Mataram song should be sung routinely in government offices as part of the activities associated with the anniversary.
He further informed that a programme related to the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be organised at the Multi Art Cultural Centre on August 14. He appealed to citizens to participate in the programme in large numbers and remember the difficult experiences associated with the Partition.
Meena said national occasions provide an opportunity for citizens to strengthen their commitment towards the country and reflect on the values of unity, dignity and national responsibility.
He urged residents to make the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign a meaningful public participation initiative by displaying the national flag respectfully and learning about the rules associated with it.
District Revenue Officer Chetna Chaudhary, DIPRO Dr Narendra Singh, Superintendent Hakam Saini, AIPRO Balram Sharma and other officials were present on the occasion.
The exhibitions are intended to provide citizens with accessible information about the Tricolour while encouraging wider participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and reinforcing the message of national pride and responsibility.
