Kumari Selja Seeks White Paper on BJP’s Two-Year Rule in Haryana, Demands Answers on Poll Promises
Congress national general secretary, Sirsa MP, former Union Cabinet Minister and Congress Working Committee member Kumari Selja has demanded that the BJP government in Haryana publish a comprehensive white paper detailing the status of its election promises during its two-year tenure.
Selja said the BJP had made major commitments to women, young people, farmers, government employees, students and economically weaker families during the Assembly election campaign. The government must disclose how many promises have been fulfilled, which remain under implementation and when outstanding commitments will be completed, she said.
Women’s Assistance and Free Healthcare Under Scrutiny
Selja questioned the implementation of the BJP’s promise to provide women with monthly financial assistance of ₹2,100. She asked the government to disclose how many women are currently receiving the amount, how many are eligible and when the remaining eligible beneficiaries would start receiving the benefit.
She also sought details of the commitment to provide free medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh per family. The government, she said, should publish the number of families covered, the patients who have benefited and the actual treatment coverage delivered under the scheme.
The Congress leader further demanded clarity on the promise of free dialysis for all patients, asking how many hospitals provide the facility and how many patients have received treatment under the initiative.
Two Lakh Government Jobs and Five Lakh Other Employment Opportunities
Raising concerns over employment, Selja said the BJP had promised two lakh permanent government jobs and five lakh additional employment opportunities. She asked the government to provide figures for regular appointments made during the two-year period, new jobs created and young people who received apprenticeship stipends.
She also sought an account of the announcement to develop Haryana into a global centre for artificial intelligence and modern skills education. The government should disclose how many training centres have been established, how many candidates have completed training and how many have secured employment, she said.
Farmers Seek Clarity on MSP Procurement and Payments
On agriculture, Selja questioned the promise to procure 24 crops at the minimum support price (MSP). She demanded crop-wise details of procurement, the number of farmers who benefited and the payments made.
She said the government should make the information publicly available so farmers can assess whether the commitment has translated into tangible support. A clear record of procurement volumes, payments and beneficiaries would help establish the actual reach of the policy, she said.
Housing, Industrial Cities and Subsidised LPG
Selja sought an account of the promise to provide five lakh houses in urban and rural areas. She asked the government to disclose how many houses have been approved, completed and actually handed over to beneficiaries.
Questioning the progress of the proposed ten modern industrial cities, she sought details of projects completed, investment attracted and employment generated for local young people.
She also asked how many Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya families regularly benefit from the promised LPG cylinders at ₹500. Regarding the commitment to provide scooters to female students attending rural colleges, she demanded district-wise beneficiary lists and distribution figures.
Sports, Agniveer Employment and Social Welfare
Selja said the government should clarify the status of its promises to establish Olympic sports nurseries in every district and provide government jobs to eligible Haryana Agniveers. She sought details of operational sports nurseries and the number of eligible former Agniveers appointed to government positions.
She also demanded information on welfare boards for the state’s 36 communities, increases in social pensions based on a scientific formula, full scholarships for Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class students pursuing medical and engineering education, and loan guarantees of up to ₹25 lakh for OBC entrepreneurs.
For each commitment, she sought the number of beneficiaries, the budget allocated and the expenditure incurred.
Rail Connectivity and Aravalli Safari Project
The Congress MP further called for an update on major infrastructure commitments, including the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, Vande Bharat services, four rapid rail routes and an intercity express metro.
She also sought details of approvals, progress and timelines for the proposed 10,000-acre Aravalli jungle safari park in southern Haryana. The government, she said, should disclose the current status of each project, milestones achieved and the expected completion schedule.
Congress Demands a Promise-Wise White Paper
Selja said the Congress wants the BJP government to issue a comprehensive white paper covering its two years in office. The document should list each major election promise alongside its current status, funds spent, number of beneficiaries and a definite timeline for completing pending work.
She maintained that accountability to the public is a fundamental responsibility in a democracy. Haryana’s people, she said, are entitled to transparent answers and concrete outcomes on commitments made during the election campaign.
