Eligible SC, denotified and Tapriwas families can receive ₹71,000, while specified beneficiaries are eligible for ₹51,000 assistance

Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said the Haryana Government is implementing the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana to provide financial assistance for the marriage of daughters belonging to economically weaker and other eligible sections of society. He said the scheme is aimed at reducing the financial burden on eligible families and providing greater social and economic support at the time of marriage.
Meena said the scheme is an important welfare initiative through which the state government provides financial assistance to eligible families according to prescribed categories and conditions. The assistance is intended to help families meet marriage-related expenses and ensure that financial constraints do not become an additional burden during an important family occasion.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, eligible families belonging to Scheduled Caste, denotified communities and Tapriwas communities are provided financial assistance of ₹71,000 under the scheme at the time of marriage. This assistance is available subject to the eligibility requirements and other conditions prescribed by the Haryana Government.
He said eligible families belonging to the Backward Classes are provided ₹51,000 as marriage assistance at the time of their daughter’s marriage. The financial support is intended to provide relief to economically weaker families and strengthen the government’s social welfare efforts.
The scheme also provides financial assistance for the remarriage of certain women. Meena said widowed, divorced, orphaned or destitute women can receive assistance of ₹51,000 for remarriage, provided they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions and have not availed themselves of the scheme’s benefit at the time of their first marriage.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that newly married couples in which the prescribed disability-related eligibility condition is fulfilled are also eligible for ₹51,000 in financial assistance. The provision is intended to extend social security support to eligible persons with disabilities and their families.
Meena said the primary objective of the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana is to provide financial assistance to economically weaker sections for the marriage of eligible daughters. Such support can help reduce financial pressure on families and promote greater access to government welfare benefits.
He explained that under the scheme, Below Poverty Line families belonging to the Backward Classes can receive financial assistance for the marriage of their daughters. The scheme also provides assistance to eligible women sportspersons for their own marriage, as well as eligible couples where either the husband or wife is a person with a disability.
The Deputy Commissioner said the government has structured the scheme to cover different categories of beneficiaries who may require financial support. He urged eligible families to understand the applicable conditions and complete the application process within the prescribed period.
One of the important requirements under the scheme is marriage registration within six months of the marriage. Meena said eligible beneficiaries should ensure that the marriage is registered within the prescribed period so that they do not face difficulty while claiming the benefit.
He said the application procedure has been made simple and accessible so that eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of the scheme without unnecessary procedural difficulties. Applicants should provide the required information and documents according to the prescribed process.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that awareness about welfare schemes is important because eligible families can benefit only when they know about the provisions and complete the required formalities on time. He urged officials and concerned departments to ensure that information regarding the scheme reaches eligible beneficiaries.
Meena said government welfare initiatives aimed at supporting economically weaker families play an important role in strengthening social security. Financial assistance at the time of marriage can provide meaningful relief to families that may otherwise struggle to meet various expenses associated with the occasion.
He also appealed to eligible beneficiaries not to wait until the final stage of the process to complete their documentation. Timely marriage registration and submission of the application with the required documents can help ensure smoother processing.

Meena reiterated that the objective of the scheme is not merely to provide financial assistance but also to strengthen the social security network for families requiring government support.
