Eye Check-Up Camp at DAV College for Girls highlights the need for greater eye care awareness among young people

DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar, organised an eye check-up camp under the joint aegis of the Women Study Centre and the Fashion Designing Department, bringing students together for eye screening and an awareness session on maintaining healthy vision in the digital age.
Dr Indu Kapoor speaks on eye health in the mobile era
Renowned eye examination specialist Dr Indu Kapoor attended the programme as the chief guest. She highlighted the growing eye-related challenges being faced by young people in an era when mobile phones and other digital screens have become an integral part of everyday life.
Dr Kapoor stressed that young people should pay attention to their eye health and should not ignore symptoms or discomfort. She said that appropriate spectacles and lenses, when required, can help address vision-related problems. She also emphasised the importance of maintaining healthy food habits and a careful lifestyle to help protect eyesight.
57 students undergo eye screening
A total of 57 students underwent eye examinations during the camp and received necessary guidance based on the screening. The programme provided an opportunity for students to become more conscious of their eye health and the importance of timely attention to vision-related concerns.

Faculty members contribute to the programme
The programme was presided over by Acting Principal Dr Surinder Kaur. It was coordinated by Women Study Centre Convener Dr Monika Sharma and Head of the Fashion Designing Department Manjeet Kaur.
Dr Deepika Ghai, Priya, Sonia Sharma, Nidhi Chhabra, Sakshi, Parveen Kumari and Aditi were among those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
Awareness remains central to preventive eye care
The camp combined screening with practical awareness, underlining the importance of paying attention to vision in a technology-driven routine. The organisers sought to encourage students to adopt healthier habits and seek appropriate professional guidance whenever they experience eye-related problems.
