Green Park Phase-II Welfare Association seeks action against officials, demands renaming of newly developed colony to end civic confusion

A fresh controversy over alleged irregularities in urban planning has surfaced in Yamunanagar’s Ward No. 9, where residents have alleged that two separate residential colonies located a short distance apart have been assigned the same name and identical house numbering, leading to widespread confusion and raising questions over administrative oversight.
The issue comes amid the Haryana Government’s recent crackdown on alleged irregularities in unauthorised colonies, with Cabinet Minister Anil Vij having directed action against officials accused of facilitating registrations in such developments.
On Monday, members of the Green Park Colony Welfare Association submitted a memorandum to Mayor Suman Bahmani, urging the Municipal Corporation to investigate the matter and initiate action against officials responsible for what they described as a serious administrative lapse.
Association president Davinder Mehta, along with office-bearers Vinod Sethi, Jagdish Mitra Dutta, Subhash Dutta, Naresh Mehta, Om Prakash Bhatia, Dheer Singh Saini, Som Prakash Oberoi and Surender Verma, stated that Green Park Phase-II, located behind the Government School in Rampura, has existed for nearly 25 years.
However, they alleged that another nearby colony has recently been developed under the same name—Green Park Phase-II—with house numbers again beginning from No. 1, creating confusion in postal deliveries, official documentation, emergency services and property identification.
The residents claimed that such duplication could not have occurred without administrative negligence and demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter. They urged the civic authorities either to rename the newer settlement as Green Park Phase-III or continue its house numbering from the last existing house number of the original colony to eliminate confusion.
The association also called for strict action against any officials found responsible for approving or allowing the duplication.
Former Senior Deputy Mayor Pawan Bittu, Councillor Bhawna Bittu, Seema Oberoi and Anil Lamba were also present during the submission of the memorandum.
