Yamunanagar Police tighten security, ban heavy vehicles on Kanwar routes and urge public to follow diversion plan for smooth and safe movement

With the annual Kanwar Yatra set to witness a large influx of devotees, the Yamunanagar Police have intensified security and traffic management arrangements to ensure the pilgrimage is conducted in a peaceful, safe and well-organised manner. Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Radaur, Sushil Kumar, carried out an on-ground inspection of the Kanwar Yatra route and the traffic diversion plan to review preparedness.
During the inspection, Traffic Police Station In-charge Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar accompanied the DSP. The officers assessed security arrangements, barricading, deployment of police personnel, traffic regulation measures and alternative routes designated for commuters during the pilgrimage.
DSP Sushil Kumar directed police officials to remain fully alert and ensure that the movement of Kanwariyas remains smooth and uninterrupted throughout the pilgrimage. He stressed that the safety and convenience of devotees would remain the administration’s highest priority and instructed personnel to respond promptly to any disruption on the designated routes.
The police have announced that heavy vehicles will not be permitted on Kanwar routes during the pilgrimage. Alternative routes have already been identified for commercial and heavy traffic to minimise congestion and ensure uninterrupted movement of devotees. Traffic police teams will remain deployed at key locations to regulate traffic and immediately clear any obstructions if required.
The DSP also said the speed of light motor vehicles passing near Kanwar routes would be strictly monitored to reduce the risk of accidents. Traffic personnel have been assigned special responsibilities to enforce speed regulations and guide motorists safely through diversion points.
Appealing to the public for cooperation, Sushil Kumar urged commuters to follow the traffic diversion plan issued by the district police and exercise patience during the Kanwar Yatra. He said public cooperation would play a vital role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the religious event.
The district police reiterated that comprehensive security arrangements, adequate police deployment, traffic personnel and emergency response resources have been put in place to maintain law and order throughout the pilgrimage. Authorities have also appealed to citizens to strictly follow police advisories and contribute towards making the Kanwar Yatra safe, peaceful and successful.
PO Staff apprehends accused declared absconder by court; district police intensify drive against proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers.
Continuing its special drive against proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers, the Yamunanagar Police have arrested an absconding accused who had been declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) by a court. The arrest was made as part of the district police’s ongoing campaign to trace and apprehend fugitives evading the judicial process.
According to the police spokesperson, the operation was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. Acting on specific intelligence, the PO Staff constituted a special team under the leadership of Inspector Rajpal. The team comprised ASI Ashwini, Head Constables Sandeep, Mahavir, Rajat, and Woman Constable Manju.
Based on a confidential tip-off, the police team successfully arrested Manish Kumar, son of Veer Singh, a resident of Dwarkapuri, Jagadhri. The accused was wanted in connection with a criminal case and had been declared a proclaimed offender after repeatedly failing to appear before the court. Police said he had been absconding for a considerable period and was attempting to evade arrest.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the competent court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Further legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with the law.
Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal appreciated the efforts of the PO Staff for the successful operation and reiterated that the district police would continue its intensive campaign against absconding criminals, proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers. He said strict action against such offenders is essential to strengthen the rule of law and ensure that those evading the judicial process are brought to justice.
The district police also appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information about absconding accused persons. Police assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
