Deputy Commissioner urges citizens to adopt plantation, water conservation and sustainable practices for a cleaner and greener future.

Deputy Commissioner Preeti has called upon citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation, stressing that the well-being of humanity is inseparably linked to the health of nature. She said clean air, water, forests and natural resources are essential for a healthy and prosperous society, making environmental protection a shared responsibility of every citizen.
Highlighting the growing challenges posed by pollution, climate change, deforestation and excessive exploitation of natural resources, the Deputy Commissioner said these issues require collective action from all sections of society. She urged people to adopt sustainable practices such as tree plantation, water conservation and cleanliness to safeguard the environment for future generations.
Preeti appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean, use water and energy judiciously and plant more trees while ensuring their proper care. She emphasised that environmental conservation cannot be achieved through government efforts alone and requires active public participation. Calling the current monsoon season the ideal time for plantation, she encouraged people to nurture saplings until they grow into healthy trees.
She also highlighted the Haryana Government’s initiatives under the Forest Department to promote environmental awareness through Van Chetna campaigns. These programmes aim to educate citizens—particularly youth, women and schoolchildren—about nature conservation, biodiversity and the state’s cultural and natural heritage.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that agroforestry is being promoted by encouraging farmers to plant improved clonal saplings on agricultural land. Special plantation drives are also being undertaken to reclaim waterlogged areas, while trees are being planted along national and state highways and on Panchayati land to enhance green cover and reduce pollution.
She added that efforts are also being made to improve habitats for wildlife and strengthen biodiversity conservation across the state. Urging people to become partners in preserving forests and protecting the environment, Preeti said every individual can contribute to building a greener, healthier and pollution-free Haryana.
Farmers urged to apply online for 50% subsidy on agricultural equipment as Haryana targets zero stubble burning.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti has informed farmers that August 3 is the last date to apply online for subsidies on crop residue management machinery under the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department’s 2026–27 scheme. Eligible farmers can submit applications through the department’s official portal.
The Deputy Commissioner said Haryana has set a target of zero stubble burning and urged farmers to make full use of subsidised farm machinery to manage crop residue scientifically instead of burning it.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Dr. Aditya Pratap Dabas said subsidies of up to 50 per cent of the machinery cost are available on 12 types of equipment, including Super Seeder, Happy Seeder, Super SMS, Rotary Slasher, Zero Drill, Hydraulic Reversible Plough, Reaper Binder, Straw Baler, Hay Rake and Paddy Chopper/Mulcher.
Assistant Agricultural Engineer Dr. Vinit Kumar Jain said only farmers registered on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal during the Rabi and Kharif 2025–26 seasons will be eligible. Farmers or family members with recorded stubble-burning violations during the past two seasons will not qualify for the subsidy.
Applicants must upload documents including a PAN card, valid tractor registration certificate, land verification report for small and marginal farmers, and an affidavit confirming they will not burn crop residue. Only one member from a Family ID can apply for one agricultural machine under the scheme.
Eligible beneficiaries will be selected through an online draw conducted by the District Level Executive Committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner. Selected farmers will be informed through telephone and will have to submit original documents for verification before receiving the subsidy approval certificate.
Officials advised farmers to complete the online process before the deadline and contact the offices of the Deputy Director of Agriculture or the Assistant Agricultural Engineer for further assistance.
