The Legal Literacy Cell of DAV Girls College, Yamunanagar, observed the World Day for International Justice by organising a legal awareness programme aimed at promoting constitutional values, human rights and the importance of equal justice among students.

A specially curated poster exhibition formed the highlight of the event, with students showcasing creative displays conveying messages on justice, equality, legal rights and civic responsibility.

The programme was presided over by Officiating Principal Dr Surinder Kaur and Legal Literacy Cell In-charge Dr Monica Sharma.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Surinder Kaur said justice extends beyond courtrooms and forms the foundation of every citizen’s rights and responsibilities. She encouraged students to develop a sound understanding of the law, remain aware of their constitutional rights and actively contribute towards building a society based on fairness, equality and justice.Commerce faculty member Vivek Narula emphasised that legal awareness has become increasingly important for today’s youth. She said knowledge of the law empowers individuals to protect their rights while also helping them become informed and responsible citizens.

Head of the Department of Political Science Dr Shikha Saini said the World Day for International Justice serves as a reminder of the principles of impartiality, equal opportunity and respect for human rights. She urged students to follow the law in their daily lives and motivate others to become legally aware.

Students actively participated in the programme by presenting posters carrying impactful messages on justice, constitutional rights and human dignity, reinforcing the importance of legal literacy in everyday life.
