District Town and Country Planning Department razes unauthorised developments in Sadhaura; public advised against purchasing plots in illegal colonies

The District Town and Country Planning Department, with support from the district administration, carried out a demolition drive against two unauthorised residential colonies being developed in the Sadhaura urban area of Yamunanagar district. District Town Planner Rajesh Kumar said the action was taken in the revenue estates of Tibri and Sarawan villages after the developers allegedly failed to comply with statutory provisions governing urban development. During the operation, officials demolished internal earthen roads, boundary walls and foundation structures spread over nearly 9.5 acres, effectively halting further illegal construction at the sites.The demolition drive was conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Preeti. Rajesh Kumar, Junior Engineer Rahul and Sub-Divisional Officer Anurag Jindal of the Public Works Department supervised the operation. Anurag Jindal also served as the Duty Magistrate to maintain law and order, while personnel from the State Enforcement Bureau and local police remained deployed throughout the exercise.
The District Town Planner said notices had earlier been issued to the violators under the provisions of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975. However, the developers allegedly ignored the departmental directions and continued development without obtaining the mandatory approvals from the competent authority.He reiterated that establishing residential colonies or undertaking construction without statutory permission is a violation of the law and would continue to attract strict enforcement action. The district administration has also cautioned members of the public against purchasing plots in unauthorised colonies, stating that buyers would do so at their own risk. Officials warned that any future illegal development or construction would invite similar legal and demolition proceedings in accordance with the law. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to curbing unauthorised urban development and ensuring planned, regulated growth across the district.
