Deputy Commissioner Preeti calls for compassion and social responsibility as club donates wheelchair and skill-development kits for underprivileged women

The Inner Wheel Club of Jagadhri-Yamunanagar installed its new executive committee for the 2026–27 term during a grand ceremony held at Hotel Sapphire, reaffirming its commitment to women’s empowerment, community service and social welfare through a series of impactful initiatives.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti, who attended the event as the chief guest, formally congratulated the newly elected team and extended her best wishes for a successful tenure. Ragini Vinayak assumed office as the Club President, while Garima Dhiman took charge as Vice President, Nidhi Garg as Secretary, Parul Khanna as Treasurer, Amrita Gupta as ISO and Sandeep Kaur as Editor.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner urged members to continue serving society with compassion and empathy.
“We must move forward with a positive approach towards society. Numerous voluntary organisations are making meaningful contributions to social welfare, and each one of us should make an effort to support the underprivileged and stand by families facing hardship,” she said.
Emphasising the importance of emotional support, she noted that the pain of illness affects not only patients but also their families, making compassion and solidarity equally important aspects of community service.
During the ceremony, outgoing President Sweety Anand presented a report on the club’s activities and community projects undertaken during her tenure. She thanked club members for their unwavering support and highlighted the organisation’s continued focus on education, healthcare and social outreach.
Students from Bloomberg School added a cultural touch to the programme with colourful performances that received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The club also launched two notable service initiatives during the event. A wheelchair was presented to a specially-abled individual with disabilities in both legs, enabling greater mobility and independence.
In another initiative aimed at promoting women’s self-reliance, the club distributed professional makeup kits to girls associated with Sai Saubhagya to support their beauty parlour training. The initiative seeks to equip young women with vocational skills that can help them achieve financial independence through self-employment.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, with members reaffirming the club’s commitment to expanding its social service initiatives during the coming year.
Organisers said the installation ceremony reflected the Inner Wheel Club’s enduring mission of promoting service, women’s empowerment, skill development and community welfare, while encouraging greater participation in meaningful social causes.
