Haryana Cabinet Minister Krishan Bedi on Tuesday announced that the state government will organise a statewide ‘Samajik Samrasta Kalash Yatra’ (Social Harmony Kalash Yatra) to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj. The initiative aims to promote the message of equality, brotherhood and social harmony across the state.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP district office, Yamuna Kamal, Bedi said the programme has been planned jointly by the Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Haryana unit, headed by Dr Archana Gupta.

The minister said a delegation comprising ministers, MLAs and leaders of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha will visit Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace at Seer Govardhanpur in Varanasi to bring back sacred soil, which will then be carried across Haryana as part of the Samajik Samrasta Kalash Yatra.

According to the minister, the sacred soil will first be ceremonially installed at the Shri Sheetla Mata Temple in Gurugram before being distributed to all 27 organisational districts of the BJP in Haryana. It will subsequently be taken to temples in villages, towns and cities across the state to spread Guru Ravidas Ji’s message of social equality and communal harmony.

Bedi said Guru Ravidas Ji devoted his life to eliminating discrimination and inspiring society to embrace equality and human dignity. “This initiative is not merely a commemorative event but a social movement aimed at strengthening harmony and reinforcing the ideals of equality envisioned by Guru Ravidas Ji,” he said.

He added that the year-long celebrations would involve participation from people belonging to all communities, religions and social backgrounds, reflecting the saint’s vision of ‘Begumpura’—an ideal society free from suffering, discrimination and inequality.

The Cabinet Minister also emphasised the importance of connecting younger generations with the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji through the Kalash Yatra. He said the campaign would help create awareness about the saint’s philosophy of social justice, unity and inclusive development among the youth.

“The Haryana Government remains committed to preserving and promoting the teachings of saints and great personalities whose values continue to guide society. Guru Ravidas Ji’s message transcends caste and community and is relevant for the welfare of humanity as a whole,” Bedi said.

Among those present at the press conference were Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora, BJP District President Rajesh Sapra, Safai Commission Chairman Ishwar Palaka, District Media In-charge Kapil Manish Garg, Fakir Chand Mundakheda, Sunder Lal Mehlawali, Som Prakash Nambardar, Karm Chand Ratoli, Kala Ram Salempur, Jang Sher Singh, Jagdish Meharampur, Shubham Rana, Sunil Telipura, party workers and local dignitaries.
