PWD Minister Ranbir Gangwa calls on youth to embrace the ideals of great leaders, emphasises education, hard work and values at Guru Daksh Prajapati Jayanti celebrations

Haryana Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa on Wednesday announced a ₹21 lakh grant for the Prajapati Sabha Dharamshala in Kurukshetra and laid the foundation stone of a new educational institution to be established by the community, underscoring the government’s focus on education and social development.

Addressing the Guru Daksh Prajapati Jayanti celebrations as the chief guest at Guru Daksh Prajapati Dharamshala, Gangwa said the observance of birth anniversaries of great personalities should go beyond ceremonial events and serve as an opportunity for the younger generation to imbibe their ideals and values.

“Young people should draw inspiration from the lives and teachings of great leaders. Such occasions help preserve our cultural heritage while encouraging future generations to follow the path of service, discipline and social responsibility,” the minister said.

Earlier in the day, Gangwa laid the foundation stone of the proposed educational institution on Dhand Road, describing education as the most effective tool for social and economic empowerment. He said the new institution would provide better educational opportunities to students in the region and strengthen employment prospects.

Highlighting the importance of character-building, the minister expressed concern over what he described as a declining work ethic among young people.

“A degree alone cannot guarantee success. Hard work, honesty and strong moral values are equally essential. A prosperous and self-reliant society can only be built when people remain connected to their cultural roots while embracing the spirit of hard work,” he said.

The minister also appealed to society to create a safe environment for women and girls, noting that while governments implement welfare schemes, ensuring women’s safety is a shared social responsibility. Referring to the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Haryana, Gangwa said the initiative had contributed to improving the state’s sex ratio and expanding opportunities for girls.

He urged parents to instil values of respect, discipline and social responsibility in children, stressing that young people should contribute positively to society and remain connected to their cultural heritage despite the growing influence of digital platforms.

Speaking about Guru Daksh Prajapati, Gangwa said the revered figure symbolised the values of duty, righteousness and social harmony. He added that the Prajapati community has made a significant contribution to preserving India’s traditional pottery craft and cultural heritage through generations of dedicated work.

“The government is committed to taking the teachings of saints and great personalities to every section of society. Such programmes inspire people to take pride in their history, culture and traditions,” he said.

During the event, BJP Yuva Morcha District President Sahil Sudha said the Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, is ensuring transparent recruitment based on merit. He claimed that government jobs are now being provided solely on the basis of eligibility without favouritism or corruption and highlighted the government’s focus on accelerating development projects across Thanesar Assembly constituency.

Earlier, Prajapati Sabha President Pawan Kumar Chauliya welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and submitted a memorandum outlining the community’s key demands.

Several public representatives, community leaders and social workers attended the programme.
