The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Yamunanagar police has arrested a man after allegedly recovering 32 grams of heroin, also known as smack, from his possession near Nangal Patti village, police said. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the accused has been produced before a court and taken on remand for questioning.

According to the police spokesperson, the district police are continuing action against alleged drug trafficking under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. The latest arrest was made after the Anti-Narcotics Cell received confidential information that a man was reportedly moving around near Nangal Patti village with narcotic substances.

Acting on the information, Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Anil Kumar formed a team to investigate the tip-off and take action at the location. The team included Sub-Inspector Ashish, Naveen, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajinder, Vimal and Pankaj.

Heroin Allegedly Recovered During Search

Police said the team reached the indicated location and apprehended the man. A duty magistrate was called to the spot, and the search was conducted in the magistrate’s presence. During the search, the team allegedly recovered 32 grams of heroin from the man.

The police identified the accused as Saleem alias Tota, son of Akhtar, a resident of Nangal Patti village. The recovery and arrest were followed by the registration of a case under the NDPS Act.

Accused Taken on Remand for Questioning

Police said the accused was presented before a court and taken on remand. Investigators intend to question him about the alleged source of the narcotics and where the substance was intended to be sold.

Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Anil Kumar said the investigation would focus on establishing where the accused allegedly obtained the heroin and whether it was meant for distribution elsewhere. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the recovery and the alleged drug supply activity.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the suspected source or intended destination of the substance have not been disclosed in the information provided by the police. The allegations will be subject to the legal process.

Police Cite Previous Cases Against the Accused

According to the Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge, the accused has previously faced several cases related to alleged drug trafficking, which are pending before the courts. The status of those cases does not, by itself, establish guilt in the present matter.

Police have said that further questioning during remand is expected to help investigators gather more information about the alleged supply chain. Any conclusions regarding the source of the narcotics, possible links to other individuals or the intended distribution network will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation.

The latest action forms part of the district police’s stated efforts to act against drug trafficking. The Anti-Narcotics Cell conducted the operation after receiving information about the suspected possession of narcotics near Nangal Patti village.

CASE STATUS

The case remains under investigation. The accused is entitled to due process, and the allegations must be established through the judicial process.
