Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell Arrests Suspected Bike Thief, Recovers Two Stolen Motorcycles
Police say accused was intercepted near the Kalanour border while allegedly attempting to take a stolen motorcycle towards Uttar Pradesh

The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of Yamunanagar Police has arrested a man in connection with motorcycle theft and recovered two allegedly stolen motorcycles from his possession. According to the police, the accused was intercepted during a checking operation after officers received information that a youth carrying a stolen motorcycle was likely to cross the Kalanour border and travel towards Uttar Pradesh.
The police spokesperson said the action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police’s continuing drive against vehicle theft. The accused was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody, while further investigation into the case is underway.
Police Set Up Checkpoint on Secret Information»
Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar said his team received confidential information that a young man carrying a stolen motorcycle would pass through the Kalanour border on his way towards Uttar Pradesh. Acting on the information, a special police team was constituted under the leadership of Assistant Sub-Inspector Randhir Singh, Head Constable Ravinder, Sandeep, Yogesh, Jitender and Naresh.
The team established a checkpoint at a likely location and began checking vehicles. After some time, a youth was seen approaching on a motorcycle. Police stopped him and checked the vehicle documents, which they said appeared suspicious. During questioning and verification, the motorcycle was allegedly found to be stolen.
Two Motorcycles Recovered»
Police identified the accused as Harsh, son of Sunil Kumar, a resident of Dhakka Basti in Radaur. During questioning, police said he admitted that the motorcycle on which he was intercepted had allegedly been stolen from Committee Chowk in Radaur on October 3.
Further questioning allegedly led investigators to another stolen motorcycle. Police said the second motorcycle was recovered from the accused and that he disclosed having stolen it from Labour Colony on September 30.
Police Probe Earlier Theft Cases»
Rajesh Kumar said the accused already has three previous theft cases registered against him, all of which are pending before the court. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the latest recoveries and are also looking into whether the accused’s alleged involvement could help police establish links with other vehicle theft incidents.
The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell described the recovery of the two motorcycles as a significant step towards solving vehicle theft cases. Police said further investigation would be carried out to establish the complete circumstances of the alleged thefts and determine whether additional stolen vehicles are connected with the accused.
Police Appeal to Vehicle Owners»
The police spokesperson said the district police would continue its campaign against vehicle theft and take action against those involved in such offences. Residents have also been advised to remain alert about the security of their vehicles and immediately inform the police if they notice any suspicious activity.
