Two young men riding a motorcycle have been arrested by the Kalanaur police post team with 14 grams of heroin (smack), police said. The alleged recovery was made during vehicle checking at the Kalanaur border after police received information that two youths would enter the district from Uttar Pradesh carrying a suspected narcotics consignment.

Police said a case has been registered against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, while investigators continue to examine the alleged source and intended destination of the recovered substance.

Secret Information Leads to Border Check»

According to Rajiv Pal, in-charge of Kalanaur police post, the team received confidential information that two youths would travel by motorcycle from Uttar Pradesh and enter the district through the Kalanaur border with a suspected drug consignment.

Acting on the information, a police team was constituted under the leadership of ASI Anoop Kumar. The team established a checkpoint at the Kalanaur border and began checking vehicles. Police said that after some time, two youths approaching from the Uttar Pradesh side were spotted riding a motorcycle and were stopped for questioning.

14 Grams of Heroin Allegedly Recovered During Search»

The two men were identified as Mohit alias Chiku, son of Ghanser, and Gaurav Sharma alias Kaka, son of Tarachand, both residents of Mandeber village, police said. Their personal search was conducted in the presence of a Duty Magistrate.

Police said the search resulted in the recovery of 14 grams of heroin (smack) from Mohit. The motorcycle used by the two men was allegedly owned by Gaurav. Investigators said the vehicle was being used by the accused for the alleged transportation of the narcotic substance.

Following the alleged recovery, police registered a case against both accused under the NDPS Act. The matter has now entered the judicial process, and further investigation is being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession and movement of the substance.

Police Checking Previous Criminal Cases»

Police also said that the two accused have previous criminal cases. According to Rajiv Pal, Mohit has previously faced a case under the NDPS Act, while Gaurav has a previous theft case. Police said the earlier cases are currently pending before the courts.

The disclosure of previous cases is being examined as part of the investigation, while the present allegations will be determined through the legal process. Police are also expected to investigate whether the accused were connected with other persons involved in the alleged supply or distribution of narcotics.

Investigation Continues Into the Alleged Supply Chain»

The Kalanaur border has significance in the investigation because the police information indicated that the alleged consignment was being brought into the district from Uttar Pradesh. Investigators will now examine the alleged source of the heroin, its intended destination and whether any additional persons were involved.

The accused were produced before the court following registration of the case. Police said further investigation will focus on the circumstances of the alleged possession and transportation of the narcotic substance and any possible links emerging during the proceedings.
