JATHLANA: Jathlana police have arrested two brothers in connection with a series of alleged thefts in the area and recovered stolen cash and articles from them, according to the police. Investigators said the accused allegedly stole money from a donation box kept at a Gogamedi in Nagal village and later disclosed another theft involving cash and jewellery from a house in Barsan.

Police said the arrests were made following directions issued by Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal to district police teams to intensify action against crime and persons allegedly involved in criminal activities. The case is being investigated further, while the accused have been produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.

Complaint After Gogamedi Donation Box Theft»

According to Station House Officer Amit Kumar, a complaint was filed by Aman Kumar of Nagal village after money was allegedly stolen from a donation box kept at the local Gogamedi during the night of September 29–30. The complainant told police that an unidentified person or persons had broken open the box and taken the money.

Following registration of the case, a police team was formed under the supervision of Head Constables Rahul and Amit to trace the suspects. Police said the team developed information about the alleged involvement of two persons and subsequently arrested them.

Police Identify Two Brothers as Suspects»

The arrested men have been identified as Yogesh Kumar and Nitin Kumar, sons of Gurnam Singh and residents of Sandhala village, police said. Both are brothers. Investigators said the arrests were based on information received during the inquiry and that further questioning led to the disclosure of another alleged theft.

Police said the two accused allegedly admitted their involvement in a theft reported in Barsan village on October 1. In that incident, cash and jewellery were allegedly stolen from a house. Investigators said the stolen articles and money were subsequently recovered from the accused.

Earlier Jathlana Theft Also Traced»

During questioning, the accused also allegedly disclosed their involvement in another theft case in Jathlana village, according to the police. Investigators said the development helped police connect the suspects with more than one reported theft in the area.

The recovery of cash and other stolen articles is now part of the investigation. Police said the recovered material will be examined in connection with the respective cases as the investigation proceeds. The authorities are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences and whether any other persons were involved.

Both Accused Already Face Theft Cases»

Station House Officer Amit Kumar further said that both brothers have six previous theft cases each. According to police, those cases are currently pending before the courts. The previous cases will form part of the background being examined by investigators, but the present allegations will be dealt with through the applicable legal process.

After completing the immediate arrest and recovery proceedings, police produced both accused before the court. They were sent to judicial custody. Police said the investigation remains underway and that further evidence, recoveries and possible links to other incidents will be examined as part of the case.
