Shivaji Press Club Launches Bharat Swachhta Abhiyan from Begampur
The Shivaji Press Club Yamunanagar on Monday launched the Bharat Swachhta Abhiyan from Begampur village under its Seva Hi Sankalp campaign, bringing together local residents, schoolchildren, elected representatives and public officials for a community-focused cleanliness initiative. The programme began with an awareness session at the village school, followed by a sweeping and voluntary cleanliness drive through the village streets.
The initiative was aimed at encouraging people to view cleanliness not merely as a government or sanitation department responsibility, but as a shared civic duty. Organisers urged villagers and children to maintain cleanliness around their homes, schools and public spaces and to participate actively in community efforts.

Nishchal Chaudhary, district president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, attended the programme as the chief guest, while DDPO Narendra presided over the event. Chhachhrauli SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, BDPO Kartik Chauhan, BJP Pratap Nagar mandal president Amit Devdhar and Begampur gram panchayat sarpanch Pankaj Chaudhary were present as special guests. Municipal councillor Bhanu Rana from Jagadhri also participated in the programme.
Under the leadership of Shivaji Press Club president Ravindra Chauhan, the guests were welcomed and honoured with traditional stoles and mementoes. The organisers said the recognition was part of the club’s effort to bring community stakeholders together around issues of public interest.
‘Cleanliness Is Everyone’s Responsibility’: Nishchal Chaudhary »
Addressing the gathering, Nishchal Chaudhary said cleanliness cannot be treated as the sole responsibility of the government, gram panchayat or sanitation workers. According to him, every citizen has a role in keeping the surroundings clean and should contribute through voluntary community service wherever possible.
He called upon villagers to pay particular attention to cleanliness around their homes and neighbourhoods and to participate in collective cleanliness activities. He said sustained public participation is important for turning cleanliness campaigns into a regular community practice rather than a one-day exercise.

SDM Jaspal Singh Gill said the Shivaji Press Club has been undertaking activities connected with social welfare alongside its journalism-related work. He referred to initiatives such as blood donation camps, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation campaign and the ‘Nasha Se Jung Yamunanagar Police Ke Sang’ campaign conducted with the district police.
Gill said the launch of the Bharat Swachhta Abhiyan from Begampur under the Seva Hi Sankalp campaign was another community-oriented initiative. He described the effort as a positive step towards creating awareness and encouraging residents to participate in cleanliness activities.

DDPO Narendra said Begampur’s young sarpanch Pankaj Chaudhary is known for his active approach and said the gram panchayat had set an example by successfully organising the cleanliness programme. He appealed to residents to ensure that the cleanliness achieved through the drive is maintained continuously.

Schoolchildren presented a welcome song and patriotic songs during the programme. Following the awareness session, members of the Shivaji Press Club, panchayat representatives and villagers joined the sweeping drive and carried out voluntary cleaning work in the village streets.
Among those present were BDPO Kartik Chauhan, BJP mandal president Amit Devdhar, municipal councillor Bhanu Rana, Pratap Nagar Sarpanch Organisation president Vijay Singh Mintu, sarpanch Rajan Ballewala, former sarpanch Omkar, sarpanch Mainpal Jaiyadhari, the school headmaster and staff, along with a large number of villagers.
Shivaji Press Club president Ravindra Chauhan, Ramkishan Kashyap, Rajendra Kumar, Ravikant, Ravi Kumar, Savita, Preeti Saini, Nitin Singla, Dinesh Kumar, Ravish Chauhan, Ali Jan, Antim Prajapati and Rudra Pratap Singh were among the club members who actively participated in the campaign.
