Yamunanagar Anti-Narcotics Cell Arrests Man With 31 Grams of Heroin
Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested a man allegedly involved in drug trafficking and recovered 31 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as smack, from his possession, police said. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the accused was produced before a court before being taken on remand for further investigation.
According to the police spokesperson, the action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police’s continuing drive against drug trafficking and the distribution of narcotic substances.
Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Anil Kumar said his team had received confidential information that a man was allegedly involved in selling narcotic substances near the Valmiki Basti area of Old Hamida.
31 grams of heroin recovered during search
Acting on the information, a police team comprising ASI Jasbir Singh, Karmveer, Amit, constables Amit, Ankit and Monu was constituted. The team reached the location and detained a man who was allegedly moving around the area.
Police said a duty magistrate was called to the spot before the search of the detained person was conducted. According to the police, the search resulted in the recovery of 31 grams of heroin. The accused was identified as Aslam, a resident of Old Hamida, police said.
Following the recovery, a case was registered under the NDPS Act. The accused was produced before the court and subsequently taken on police remand, according to the Anti-Narcotics Cell.

Police investigating alleged drug-trafficking activities
Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Anil Kumar said the accused was allegedly involved in drug trafficking for a considerable period. The police are now examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged activity and investigating whether other persons were involved.
Investigators are also expected to verify the source of the recovered heroin and establish whether the accused had allegedly been supplying narcotic substances to other individuals in the area. The remand period is being used to pursue these aspects of the investigation, police said.
The police have maintained that action against drug trafficking remains a priority under the district-wide campaign against narcotics. Officials have also urged residents to share information about suspected drug-related activities with the police so that timely action can be taken.

The latest arrest is part of the district police’s stated efforts to identify and act against people allegedly involved in the supply and distribution of narcotic substances. Police officials said further details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell is examining the recovery, the circumstances of the alleged offence and the possible links of the accused with other persons involved in drug-related activities.
