Yamunanagar Police issue 1,442 challans in special vehicle-checking drive as 338 vehicles are impounded

Special Drive Targets Number Plate and HSRP Violations
Yamunanagar Police have launched a special enforcement campaign against vehicles being driven without registration number plates and High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), with the drive aimed at strengthening traffic-rule compliance, improving vehicle identification and supporting efforts to prevent crime.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ashish Chaudhary, while speaking to journalists, said the campaign was being conducted on the directions of the Director General of Police, Haryana, and under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal.
471 Vehicles Challaned for Number Plate Violations
According to ASP Ashish Chaudhary, between September 13 and September 17, 2026, different police teams in the district issued challans to 471 vehicles for being without number plates or without the required HSRP.
During the same campaign period, 338 vehicles were impounded, reflecting enforcement action taken against vehicles found in violation of applicable requirements. Police spokespersons also reported that teams conducting the special checking campaign issued a total of 1,442 vehicle challans during the reported period.
The district police have deployed teams at different locations to conduct special checking and naka operations. Vehicles are being examined for number-plate compliance and other traffic violations, with action taken in accordance with applicable law.
Police Stress Importance of HSRP
ASP Ashish Chaudhary said HSRP is required for vehicles and helps make vehicle identification easier. He also highlighted its usefulness to police agencies during investigations involving vehicles.
He appealed to vehicle owners whose vehicles have not yet been fitted with HSRP to get the plates installed through the prescribed process at the earliest. He also urged motorists not to drive vehicles without registration number plates and to ensure that their vehicles meet applicable legal requirements.

Drive Linked to Road Safety and Law Enforcement
ASP Chaudhary said the campaign was not being conducted merely to issue challans but also to strengthen road safety and law-and-order measures. Proper vehicle identification can assist enforcement agencies in carrying out checks and investigations, making compliant number plates an important part of broader traffic and policing efforts.
The police appealed to citizens to cooperate with checking teams and follow traffic regulations while driving. Vehicle owners were also urged to keep all required documents and registration details in order.
Police Warn Against Continued Violations
The district police said negligence regarding number plates and other traffic requirements would be taken seriously during the special campaign. Motorists found violating applicable rules may face action under the Motor Vehicles Act and other relevant provisions, depending on the nature of the violation.
Police officials advised vehicle owners to ensure compliance with registration and documentation requirements rather than waiting for enforcement action.
Citizens Asked to Keep Vehicles Compliant
ASP Ashish Chaudhary appealed to citizens to maintain their vehicle documents properly and ensure that registration number plates are displayed in accordance with the rules. He said cooperation from vehicle owners and drivers is important for maintaining road safety and strengthening law enforcement.
The special drive is focusing on vehicles that do not meet prescribed number-plate requirements as well as other traffic violations detected during checking. With 471 challans issued specifically for vehicles without number plates or HSRP and 338 vehicles impounded, the reported campaign has resulted in substantial enforcement action.
The district police have urged motorists to comply with registration, number-plate and traffic requirements to support road safety and effective law enforcement.
