The District Education Department has stepped up its campaign to maximise student participation in the Run Against Drugs 2026, with more than 13,270 students from Classes VIII to XII already registered for the five-kilometre marathon scheduled for July 26.District Education Officer Premlata said all government and private schools across the district’s six education blocks have been directed to encourage students to take part in the anti-drug initiative. The campaign aims to spread awareness among young people about the harmful effects of substance abuse while promoting a healthy lifestyle.She said students have responded enthusiastically to the initiative, reflecting growing support for the state’s mission to build a drug-free Haryana.According to the administration, overall registrations for the district-level event have already crossed 36,000 participants. Eligible participants can register through the official event portal or by scanning the designated QR code.The Education Department has appealed to private educational institutions to ensure maximum participation and contribute to making the awareness campaign a grand success.

Sports Department Mobilises Athletes for Mega Anti-Drug Marathon in Yamunanagar

The District Sports Department has intensified preparations for the Run Against Drugs 2026, calling upon athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts to participate in large numbers in the anti-drug marathon to be held on July 26.District Sports Officer Shilpa Gupta said coaches of all sports nurseries operating in Yamunanagar have been instructed to register their trainees for the 5-km and 10-km races. Similar communications have also been sent to District Sports Officers across Haryana, inviting athletes from other districts to join the event.The marathon will begin at 5:15 a.m. from Matka Chowk and forms part of the Haryana Government’s ‘Nasha Chhodo, Jeevan Jodo’ campaign. Separate prizes will be awarded to male and female winners, while the champions of the 10-km category will receive ₹1 lakh each.Gupta said sports provide a positive direction for young people and play a vital role in keeping them away from drugs. She urged the youth to embrace fitness and strive to win medals for the nation instead of falling prey to addiction. Officials said registrations have already crossed 36,000, and interested participants can enrol through the official registration portal or by using the QR code released by the administration.

UHBVN to Hold Weekly Electricity Consumer Courts Across Yamunanagar Circle

The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has announced a new weekly grievance redressal mechanism by introducing Electricity Consumer Courts across the Yamunanagar Circle to ensure faster disposal of consumer complaints. Superintending Engineer Sombir Bhanotia said the consumer courts will be organised every Tuesday at the Yamunanagar Circle office and every Thursday at all Executive Engineer (XEN) offices across the district. The hearings will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., allowing consumers to directly present complaints related to electricity supply, billing, technical faults and other service issues. Bhanotia said all grievances received during the hearings will be documented separately and forwarded to the UHBVN headquarters for monitoring. He directed that no official meetings be scheduled during the grievance sessions so that all concerned officers remain available to hear public complaints. The Superintending Engineer also warned that officers failing to resolve complaints within a reasonable timeframe would face departmental action in accordance with the corporation’s rules. The initiative is expected to improve accountability, strengthen consumer services and ensure quicker resolution of electricity-related issues across Yamunanagar district.
