Stolen Activa recovered, suspect arrested by Yamunanagar Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell

Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell has arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of an Activa scooter and recovered the vehicle, police said. The accused was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.

Police Act on Information About Stolen Activa
According to Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar, the team received confidential information that a youth would travel towards Uttar Pradesh through Badi Majra while riding a stolen Activa. Acting on the information, a special team comprising Head Constables Harbilas, Hardeep Singh, Yogesh, Naresh and Sandeep was deployed at a likely location and vehicle checking was intensified.
During the checking operation, police said a young man riding an Activa approached the naka. Officers stopped him and found the vehicle documents suspicious. During questioning, police alleged that the scooter had been stolen and that the rider was involved in the theft.
Accused Identified as Deepak
The accused was identified as Deepak, son of Vijay Singh, a resident of Dashmesh Colony. Police said he disclosed during questioning that he had allegedly stolen the Activa from Model Town on August 25. Investigators also found that the scooter had been repainted in a different colour, allegedly to conceal its identity after the theft.
Police said the recovery of the vehicle is expected to help in investigating and establishing links with other vehicle theft incidents in the district. The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell is continuing its inquiry into the circumstances of the theft and whether the accused was involved in any other similar offences.
Police Appeal to Vehicle Owners
Police said the accused was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. The district police are continuing a drive against vehicle theft and other property offences. Residents have also been advised to remain alert about vehicle security and immediately inform police about suspicious activity.
