Police identify two alleged main shooters in the Harbhajan Singh murder case in Yamunanagar as investigators probe suspected gang links, logistics and surveillance

Yamunanagar police have claimed a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the September 3 murder of transporter and financier Harbhajan Singh outside Jack Fitness Gym in Model Town. Investigators have identified two alleged main shooters suspected of carrying out the attack, while efforts are under way to arrest them.
According to police, the two suspects are linked to Rohtak and Sonipat and are being investigated for alleged contacts with the Kala Rana gang. Both remain absconding. Teams from the Ambala unit and the CIA are conducting raids at possible locations, with investigators hoping their arrest will reveal the wider conspiracy and the role of other persons.

Two Accused Arrested After Police Encounter
Police have so far arrested three accused in the case, including Rakesh Kumar and Aryan, who were apprehended after an encounter near Mahlanwali village on Pabni Road. Police said the two were travelling on a motorcycle when the team attempted to stop them and they allegedly opened fire.
The police team retaliated, and approximately 20 rounds were exchanged, according to the police account. Rakesh and Aryan sustained gunshot injuries to their legs and were taken into custody before being shifted to hospital for treatment.
Police said a reward of Rs 5,000 each had earlier been announced for the two accused. Authorities are also considering increasing the reward for information leading to the arrest of the two alleged main shooters.
Role in Arranging Hotel Stay and Weapons Under Probe
Investigators are examining whether the arrested suspects played a wider logistical role. Police have received inputs that Rakesh Kumar and Aryan allegedly helped arrange accommodation for the shooters at a hotel in Kurukshetra.
The investigation is focused on identifying who arranged the hotel room, who allegedly supplied weapons and who assisted the shooters before and after the murder. Investigators suspect that an organised network may have provided logistical support.
GPS Device Allegedly Placed on Victim’s Car Before Murder
A key line of investigation concerns surveillance of Harbhajan Singh’s movements. Police said a GPS tracking device was allegedly placed on his car before the murder, raising the possibility that his movements and location were being monitored.
Preliminary investigation has also brought the alleged role of Vishal, a resident of Dera Amin, and another youth under scrutiny. Both were detained for questioning about their activities and contacts. Investigators are examining where the GPS device was obtained, who installed it and who allegedly received the location information.
Police Trace Links from Surveillance to Post-Murder Escape
The probe has now moved beyond identifying the shooters. Investigators are attempting to connect the alleged chain of reconnaissance, GPS tracking, weapon supply and assistance in moving the shooters to a safe location after the crime.
Police are questioning arrested suspects to identify those who allegedly provided logistical support. A juvenile has also reportedly been arrested in connection with the case. Investigators are examining the alleged links of the absconding shooters with the Kala Rana gang and checking their criminal history and previous contacts.
Police believe the arrest of the two alleged main shooters could provide important leads about the motive, the alleged conspiracy, the involvement of other persons and the planning behind the murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
