A sacred Kalash Vandan Yatra carrying holy soil from Seer Govardhanpur in Kashi, the birthplace of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, received a warm and devotional welcome at Shri Guru Ravidas Temple in Gadhouli as part of the celebrations marking the 650th birth anniversary of the revered saint. The holy Kalash, which began its journey from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace, will now continue to 18 temples across the Yamuna Mandal, carrying the saint’s message of equality, humanity, service and social harmony to devotees and communities.
The arrival of the sacred Kalash in Gadhouli created an atmosphere of deep faith and devotion. Villagers gathered in large numbers and welcomed the holy Kalash with flower petals, reflecting their श्रद्धा and emotional connection with the spiritual legacy of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji. The Kalash, containing sacred soil from Seer Govardhanpur, was received with traditional respect and devotion at the temple.
Haryana Cabinet Minister Krishan Kumar Panwar, who holds the portfolios of Development and Panchayats and Mines and Geology, brought the sacred Kalash Vandan Yatra to Shri Guru Ravidas Temple in Gadhouli. On the occasion, he announced ₹11 lakh from his discretionary fund for the construction of a langar hall at the temple.
Residents of the village said that the demand for a dedicated langar hall had been pending for a considerable period. The announcement by the Cabinet Minister was welcomed by the local community, which described it as an important step towards fulfilling a longstanding requirement of the temple and its devotees.
Addressing the gathering, Panwar said that the life and teachings of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj continue to serve as a powerful example of humanity, equality, service and social harmony. He said that Guru Ravidas Ji devoted his life to spreading values that encouraged people to rise above social divisions and work towards a society based on dignity, mutual respect and brotherhood.
He said the saint envisioned an ideal society where no individual faced discrimination or deprivation and where every person could live with equality and dignity. Referring to Guru Ravidas Ji’s revered teachings, Panwar highlighted the saint’s vision of a society in which everyone had access to basic necessities and no distinction was made between people on the basis of social status.
The teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, he said, remain relevant in modern society and continue to inspire people to strengthen the principles of equality, compassion and collective welfare. He urged people to follow the path shown by saints and great spiritual leaders and to contribute towards building a more harmonious society.
MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora also spoke about the enduring relevance of Guru Ravidas Ji’s philosophy. Referring to the famous teaching, “Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga,” he said that the message emphasises the importance of purity of thought and a clean conscience.
Arora said that if the human mind and soul are pure and there is a genuine feeling of brotherhood among people, the true essence of spirituality can be experienced in everyday life. He said that the teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji encourage individuals to focus not only on external religious practices but also on inner purity, compassion and harmonious relationships.
He further said that sacred Kalash Vandan Yatras were being organised across different districts of Haryana with the participation of BJP workers and other members of society to spread the teachings and ideals of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji among the people. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for supporting initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting the legacy of saints and social reformers.
Mayor Suman Bahmani said that Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji gave humanity the timeless message of love, compassion, truth, hard work and selfless service. She said his teachings continue to guide society towards greater understanding, equality and social harmony.
The Mayor said that the objective of the sacred Kalash Vandan Yatra is to carry the philosophy and teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji to people across different regions. The holy Kalash carrying sacred soil from his birthplace will travel to temples in the Yamuna Mandal, enabling devotees and local communities to participate in the spiritual initiative.
The journey through 18 temples is expected to strengthen public awareness about the saint’s message and encourage people, particularly younger generations, to understand the values of equality and service associated with his life.
