The NSS units of Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, actively participated in a series of programmes organised under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan-2026’ to mark Independence Day-2026. Through various activities, students and volunteers conveyed messages of patriotism, national unity, respect for the Tricolour and responsible citizenship.
The programmes were organised under the guidance and leadership of NSS officers Dr. Rahul Singh, Dr. Umang Bareja and Dr. Ankur. The activities were designed to encourage students and members of the public to connect with the national flag and understand the values of patriotism, unity and national responsibility associated with it.
As part of the campaign, students participated enthusiastically in a ‘Tiranga Selfie’ activity, capturing their participation with the national flag and sharing the spirit of Independence Day. A ‘Tiranga Quiz’ was also organised through the My Bharat portal, providing students an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about the national flag, its significance and the country’s national identity.
A Tiranga Yatra was another major activity conducted by the NSS units. Students and volunteers participated in the yatra with enthusiasm, carrying the Tricolour and spreading the message of national unity and patriotism. The programme provided an opportunity for young participants to express their respect for the nation while encouraging others to become part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The NSS units also organised a collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’, creating an atmosphere of national pride and unity. Students participated in the patriotic rendition with enthusiasm, reaffirming their commitment to the values of the nation and its democratic traditions.
The college campus was also decorated as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The decorations added to the festive atmosphere and helped create a strong visual expression of the campaign. The activities collectively transformed the campus into a space reflecting patriotism and national pride.
The organisers said that such programmes are not merely ceremonial activities but also provide an opportunity to educate young people about the importance of the national flag and the responsibilities of citizens. Through participation in activities such as the Tiranga Yatra, quiz, patriotic singing and campus decoration, students were encouraged to develop a deeper sense of national identity and social responsibility.
The enthusiastic participation of students and NSS volunteers further strengthened the values of patriotism, discipline, service and social responsibility. The programmes also provided a platform for students to work collectively and understand the importance of teamwork in activities connected with national and social causes.
Dr. Manohar Goyal, Executive Principal of the college, appreciated the active participation of the NSS volunteers and students in the Independence Day campaign. He said that such programmes play an important role in creating awareness among young people about the unity, integrity and pride of the nation.
He said that the younger generation has an important role in shaping the country’s future and that educational institutions must provide opportunities through which students can develop not only academically but also socially and nationally.
The Executive Principal further observed that activities connected with the national flag and Independence Day help students understand the values associated with India’s freedom and democratic journey. Such programmes, he said, inspire young people to become responsible citizens who understand their duties towards the country and society.
The NSS officers also emphasised the importance of active participation by students in socially relevant programmes. They said that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign provides an opportunity for citizens, particularly young people, to express their respect for the national flag and strengthen the spirit of national unity.
The series of activities organised by Mukand Lal National College’s NSS units thus became an important part of the Independence Day-2026 celebrations in Yamunanagar.
