Haryana State Council for Child Welfare Vice-Chairperson Suman Saini has called upon citizens of the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s Assembly constituency to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and demonstrate respect for the national flag through their everyday actions. She said the Tricolour represents the identity, honour, self-respect and collective resolve of the nation, and urged citizens to participate actively in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
Suman Saini made the remarks while visiting a special ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ exhibition organised by the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department at Shivala Ramkundi on Sunday. The exhibition was aimed at spreading awareness about the history, significance and rules associated with the national flag and encouraging citizens to become part of the nationwide campaign.
She said the campaign launched by the Central and Haryana governments had now developed into a public movement, with citizens increasingly connecting with the Tricolour as a symbol of national pride and unity.
Suman Saini visits exhibition at Shivala Ramkundi
During her visit, Suman Saini was welcomed by Assistant Information and Public Relations Officer Kedar Nath Sharma with a bouquet. She was accompanied by Chief Minister’s Office representative Kailash Saini, district president Ramesh Saini and Municipal Council Chairperson Sakshi Khurana.
The dignitaries paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee before visiting the exhibition and reviewing the information displayed for the public.
Suman Saini said the exhibition was an important initiative because it provided citizens with detailed information about the national flag and the responsibilities associated with displaying it.
She said the Tricolour was no longer confined to government buildings, official functions or national ceremonies. It had become closely associated with every household, family and citizen.
“The national flag is a symbol of our identity, honour, self-respect and resolve,” she said, adding that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was helping strengthen the emotional connection between citizens and the national flag.
Exhibition highlights Flag Code and history of Tricolour
Suman Saini said the exhibition also provided information about the materials that can be used for making the national flag, including polyester, wool, silk and khadi.
She explained that rules relating to the display and use of the Indian national flag are governed by the Flag Code. Under the applicable provisions, citizens must ensure that the dignity of the national flag is maintained and that no letters, words, sentences or slogans are written on it.
She also referred to the historical evolution of the Tricolour and said the original design of India’s national flag was prepared by Pingali Venkayya.
The exhibition further informed visitors about the Ashoka Chakra placed at the centre of the white band of the national flag. The Chakra has 24 spokes and is an important part of the design and symbolism of the Tricolour.
Suman Saini also spoke about the prescribed manner of displaying and folding the national flag and the rules concerning its use in vehicles. She said awareness of such provisions was necessary because respect for the national flag also required citizens to understand and follow the rules governing its use.
Calls for developed India and developed Haryana
Suman Saini said the 80th year of India’s Independence provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past while simultaneously preparing for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
She said citizens should not limit Independence Day to celebrations and ceremonial programmes. Instead, the occasion should inspire everyone to make a meaningful contribution towards building a stronger nation.
She called for a collective resolve to build a developed India and a developed Haryana.
According to Suman Saini, the vision for Haryana should go beyond economic growth. The state should become economically stronger, socially harmonious and environmentally secure while creating opportunities for its young population to achieve recognition at the national and international levels.
She said the country’s development would ultimately depend on the active participation of its citizens and urged people to consider nation-building a shared responsibility.
Youth power will drive India’s journey towards 2047
Highlighting the role of young people, Suman Saini said India’s youth were among the country’s greatest strengths.
She said the generation growing up today would play a decisive role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Referring to the Independence Day theme focused on youth power and the journey towards a developed India by 2047, she said young people must be provided with education, skills, opportunities and the right environment to realise their potential.
She also stressed that patriotism among young people should be expressed through constructive action, discipline, innovation, social responsibility and respect for the country’s constitutional values.
“The youth of today will lead the journey of building a developed India in 2047,” she said.
Suman Saini also highlighted the significance of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, describing the national song as an enduring symbol of India’s freedom consciousness and patriotic spirit.
She said the occasion provided another opportunity for citizens, particularly young people, to understand the history of the freedom movement and the sacrifices made by generations of Indians.
Patriotism linked with civic responsibility
Suman Saini said respect for the national flag should go hand in hand with respect for the country, its Constitution, democratic institutions and fellow citizens.
She urged people to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign with enthusiasm while ensuring that the Tricolour is displayed respectfully and according to the prescribed rules.
She said national symbols become more meaningful when citizens translate the values they represent into their daily conduct.
According to her, the Tricolour represents not only India’s past struggle for freedom but also the country’s aspirations for unity, development and dignity.
The exhibition at Shivala Ramkundi therefore served as an awareness platform where citizens could learn about the national flag while being encouraged to participate in the Independence Day campaign.
Suman Saini said initiatives such as the exhibition help strengthen public awareness and ensure that national celebrations become opportunities for education and responsible citizenship.
She appealed to citizens to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a collective expression of national pride and to encourage their families and communities to participate.
The programme was attended by Chief Minister’s Office representative Kailash Saini, media coordinator Tushar Saini, district president Ramesh Saini, Municipal Council Chairperson Sakshi Khurana, Mandal presidents Shiv Gupta, Narendra Singh, Vikas Sharma and Amarendra Singh, Jitendra Khaira, Paramjit Kashyap, Poonam Saini, Monika Bansal, Satbir Mangoli, Sunny Kalda, Anil Mata and several other public representatives and citizens.
The exhibition and Suman Saini’s appeal together emphasised that the spirit of Independence Day should extend beyond a single celebration. Respect for the Tricolour, awareness of national values, participation in nation-building and responsible citizenship, she said, should remain part of everyday life.
