Municipal Corporation-organised rally urges citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and uphold the values of unity, integrity and civic responsibility

A tricolour cycle rally was organised by the Municipal Corporation with the participation of students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Jagadhri, to spread the message of patriotism, national unity and civic responsibility ahead of Independence Day.
The rally was inaugurated by Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, who himself rode a bicycle at the beginning of the event. Carrying the national flag, students participated enthusiastically in the rally and raised patriotic slogans along the route.
The rally began from the main gate of Government Model Senior Secondary School and passed through the Municipal Corporation office, Civil Road, PWD Rest House, Ambala Road, Jagadhri Bus Stand and Matka Chowk before returning through School Road and concluding at the Municipal Corporation office.
The participation of school students gave the event a strong message of youth involvement in national celebrations. Throughout the route, students encouraged residents to hoist the Tricolour at their homes on Independence Day and urged them to celebrate the national festival with pride and respect.
The students also conveyed messages of national unity, patriotism and responsibility towards the country. Their participation reflected the importance of involving young people in activities that connect national celebrations with civic values and social responsibility.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar said that the Tricolour represents the honour, pride and dignity of the nation. He said such programmes are aimed at strengthening the spirit of patriotism among young people as well as the wider community.
He appealed to citizens to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm while maintaining due respect for the national flag.
Dheeraj Kumar said that the freedom enjoyed by citizens today was achieved after immense sacrifices and struggles by freedom fighters and martyrs. He said Independence Day provides an opportunity to remember those who devoted their lives to the country’s freedom and to draw inspiration from their courage and commitment.
He also emphasised that patriotism should not remain limited to national celebrations or the hoisting of the Tricolour. According to him, responsible citizenship, respect for the Constitution, social harmony, cleanliness and sincere discharge of one’s duties are equally important expressions of love for the nation.

The cycle rally also sought to connect the Independence Day celebrations with the role of young citizens in nation-building. By taking part in the rally, students not only raised awareness about the national flag but also encouraged residents to become active participants in the celebrations.
Chief Sanitation Inspector Harjeet Singh said that the best tribute to freedom fighters would be to strengthen the country’s unity, integrity and brotherhood while performing one’s responsibilities honestly.
He urged the students to learn from the lives and struggles of freedom fighters and contribute positively to society. He said young people have an important role in building a responsible, clean and progressive nation.
Harjeet Singh also highlighted the importance of combining national pride with civic responsibility. He said citizens should understand that keeping public spaces clean, respecting fellow citizens and contributing to social harmony are essential responsibilities in a free country.
The participation of the students also created an opportunity to communicate the message of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign directly to residents along the rally route. The students, carrying Tricolours and raising patriotic slogans, encouraged people to display the national flag at their homes and join the Independence Day celebrations.
The rally passed through several important locations of Jagadhri, allowing the message to reach a large number of residents and commuters. The sight of students cycling with the Tricolour created a festive atmosphere and added a sense of enthusiasm to the Independence Day preparations in the city.
Municipal officials said that awareness activities involving students help create a stronger connection between national occasions and everyday civic responsibilities. Such programmes also provide young people with an opportunity to understand the significance of national symbols and the sacrifices associated with India’s freedom struggle.
The event underlined that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is not merely about displaying the national flag but also about strengthening feelings of unity, pride and collective responsibility.

The rally concluded at the Municipal Corporation office after passing through the designated route. The participating students returned with the message that national pride must be reflected not only through patriotic slogans but also through responsible conduct and constructive participation in society.
The event was attended by Swachh Bharat Mission adviser Lokesh Sen, expert Durgesh Kumar, Sanitation Inspector Sachin Kamboj and other officials and staff members.
The initiative added another dimension to the Independence Day celebrations in Jagadhri by bringing together students, municipal officials and citizens around the shared themes of patriotism, cleanliness, national unity and responsible citizenship.
