Municipal Teams and Drain-Cleaning Agencies Deployed in Field; Officials Directed to Monitor Waterlogging and Respond Promptly to Public Complaints

Amid continuous rainfall and reports of waterlogging in different parts of the Municipal Corporation area, Mayor Suman Bahmani held an important review meeting with Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad and concerned officials and directed the civic administration to ensure immediate action wherever water accumulation is reported.

The Mayor sought regular updates from across the Municipal Corporation area and instructed officials to respond without delay to information regarding waterlogging. She directed field teams to remain active at affected locations, continuously monitor the situation and keep providing updates until the accumulated water has been drained.

During the meeting, Bahmani reviewed the status of teams deployed in different areas and sought information about their field-level activities. She said officials and employees assigned to waterlogging-prone areas should remain present at the spot and continue monitoring conditions until the drainage operation is completed.

The Municipal Corporation has deployed officials and employees in different areas to keep track of local conditions. The Mayor directed officials to ensure continuous communication with these field teams so that any emerging problem could be addressed quickly.

She further instructed that wherever an obstruction to water drainage is reported, the concerned agency should immediately send its team to the location. Cleaning of drains and drainage points, she said, should be accompanied by continuous monitoring of the actual water-discharge arrangements.

Where normal drainage is not sufficient to remove accumulated water, the Mayor directed officials to deploy pumping sets and ensure that water is removed without unnecessary delay.

Public Complaints Prompt Immediate Field Response:

Mayor Suman Bahmani said the Municipal Corporation was taking updates from every part of its jurisdiction and was also giving prompt attention to information received from residents.

She said citizens had shared information and complaints regarding waterlogging through her mobile number as well as the Municipal Corporation’s helpline. These complaints and reports were being treated seriously, with the concerned officials and field teams being directed to reach the reported locations.

The Mayor said information received from citizens was not merely being registered as a complaint. After receiving details about a waterlogged location, the concerned team was being informed and sent to the spot so that the situation could be assessed and necessary action taken.

She stressed that timely field response was important during periods of continuous rainfall because the situation at a particular location could change quickly. Officials were therefore instructed to remain alert and ensure that waterlogging complaints received from residents were acted upon promptly.

Additional Pumps to Be Installed in Coordination with Councillors:

The Mayor also directed officials to coordinate with Municipal Corporation councillors to identify areas where waterlogging had occurred and determine locations requiring additional pumping arrangements.

Wherever additional pumps were required, officials were asked to arrange them immediately and ensure continuous pumping until the accumulated water was removed.

Bahmani emphasised that water should not remain accumulated in any area for a prolonged period. She directed the teams to monitor pumping operations and continue drainage work according to the situation at each location.

The Municipal Corporation has also activated agencies responsible for drain-cleaning work. Their teams have been deployed in the field along with civic body employees to address obstructions affecting drainage, clean drains and help restore the flow of water.

The drain-cleaning agencies were instructed to focus on locations where blockages were affecting the movement of rainwater. Their field activity is being coordinated with the Municipal Corporation teams so that drainage-related problems can be addressed more effectively.

Municipal Machinery Remains Active Across the City:

Mayor Suman Bahmani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said the entire Municipal Corporation machinery was working to minimise inconvenience to residents during the rainfall.

They said immediate response to waterlogging, effective drainage and continuous field monitoring had been kept among the administration’s priorities.

Officials and employees were given clear directions that whenever information about waterlogging is received, the concerned team should reach the location without delay and initiate necessary action.

The teams have also been directed to remain at affected locations until the water is drained and the situation is brought under control. This is intended to ensure that officials can continue monitoring the location rather than leaving immediately after initiating the drainage process.

The Mayor and Commissioner also stressed the importance of coordination between Municipal Corporation teams, councillors, drain-cleaning agencies and other departments involved in addressing waterlogging.

Focus on Drainage and Continuous Monitoring:

The civic administration is maintaining a close watch on waterlogging-related situations in different parts of the Municipal Corporation area. Officials have been assigned responsibilities for different locations and are providing regular feedback regarding conditions on the ground.

The administration is also monitoring drainage points and drains so that obstructions can be identified and removed wherever required.

The Mayor said the objective is to ensure that residents face minimum inconvenience during the rainy period. She directed officials to maintain readiness and respond quickly rather than waiting for waterlogging to become a prolonged problem.

The Municipal Corporation teams and drain-cleaning agencies have therefore been kept active in the field. Their work includes cleaning drains, removing obstacles affecting drainage, operating pumps where necessary and monitoring water levels at affected locations.

The administration has also emphasised the importance of taking information from citizens seriously. Residents who report waterlogging through the available channels are being provided a mechanism through which the concerned teams can be alerted and directed towards the affected location.

The coordinated field response is intended to ensure that waterlogging-related problems are dealt with at the local level and that available resources are deployed according to the requirements of each area.
