Students and school staff participated enthusiastically in a Tiranga competition organised at Alahar village in Radaur block as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, with the event highlighting patriotism, respect for the national flag and the sacrifices of those who contributed to India’s freedom struggle.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti said the administration was making efforts to connect citizens with the Har Ghar Tiranga portal through the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ digital campaign. She appealed to people across the district to upload their selfies on the portal and use the initiative to convey a message of patriotism and respect for the national flag.
She said the campaign was being taken to villages, cities, wards and households across Haryana from August 9 to August 17, with the objective of encouraging wider public participation. The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to become part of the campaign themselves and motivate their family members, neighbours and people in their surroundings to participate.
The Tiranga competition at Alahar village was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Preeti and under the guidance of District Education Officer Premlata. Students of the school, along with members of the teaching and other staff, took part in the competition with enthusiasm.
The event provided students with an opportunity to express their patriotic feelings and understand the significance of the national flag. The participants also paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of freedom fighters who played a role in India’s struggle for independence.

School Principal Mukesh of Government Senior Secondary School, Alahar, said the Tricolour represents the sacrifice of freedom fighters and the valour of the country’s soldiers. He said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign had helped make the relationship between citizens and the national flag more personal and meaningful.
He appealed to people to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and maintain a strong sense of respect and pride towards the national flag. He said citizens should understand that the flag is not merely a symbol displayed on special occasions but also represents the country’s freedom, unity, pride and collective national identity.
The Principal said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign should be viewed as more than just an event or a ceremonial activity. According to him, it provides an opportunity to strengthen feelings of patriotism, unity and respect for the nation among citizens.
The participation of school students in the Tiranga competition was also aimed at creating awareness among the younger generation about the importance of national symbols and the sacrifices associated with India’s freedom. Through such activities, students get an opportunity to learn about patriotism and civic responsibility in an interactive environment.
The administration has also been encouraging citizens to participate in the digital component of the campaign by connecting with the Har Ghar Tiranga portal through the Selfie with Tiranga initiative.
