District Sports Officer Manoj Kumar said the youth of the country must always remember the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs who fought for India’s freedom. He was speaking at a cyclothon organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, with the message of building a drug-free nation.
Manoj Kumar, along with District Information and Public Relations Officer Dr Narendra Singh, retired DSO Yashvir Singh, hockey coaches Narendra Thakur and Sohan Lal, and social worker Naresh Saini, flagged off the cyclothon.
The participants cycled several kilometres, spreading the message of fitness, patriotism and a healthy lifestyle.
Manoj Kumar said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is being organised from August 9 to 17 to honour the country’s freedom fighters and strengthen patriotic sentiment. He said cycling events would be organised as part of the campaign under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena.
He said keeping young people fit and away from drugs was equally important. The cyclothon, organised under the directions of SAI Regional Director Ritu Pathak and guidance of Assistant Director Vijay Manchanda, aims to encourage people from different sections of society to adopt an active lifestyle.
He said such programmes inspire the younger generation and promote both physical fitness and social responsibility.
Hockey coaches Narendra Thakur and Sohan Lal, trainer Prateek, coaches Sunil and Poonam, and social workers Vinod Garg and Naresh Saini were among those present.
