DC Preeti says objections and claims are being processed through ERO-Net 2.0; appeals to eligible youth to register as voters before August 30.

Deputy Commissioner Preeti on Wednesday addressed a press conference at the District Secretariat auditorium to brief the media on the process of disposal of claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, being conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
She said all claims and objections received during the revision exercise are being processed through the ERO-Net 2.0 platform, ensuring a fully digital, transparent and time-bound system. Every application is assigned a unique reference number after online registration, enabling the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to process the application efficiently.
The Deputy Commissioner explained that Form-6 is meant for new voter registration, Form-7 for deletion of names from the electoral roll, Form-8 for correction or transfer of entries, while Form-6A is meant for overseas Indian electors seeking voter registration.
She informed that claims and objections can be submitted from July 31 to August 30, 2026. To facilitate the public, special camps will be organised at every polling station on designated Saturdays and Sundays during this period.
Preeti further said that the Ambala Divisional Commissioner has been appointed as the Electoral Roll Observer for Yamunanagar and will undertake three review visits to monitor the revision process. Claims and objections will be disposed of by September 28, while the final electoral roll will be published on October 3, 2026.
She urged citizens who receive hearing notices to appear before the designated authority with original documents on the scheduled date and time. She also appealed to all eligible youth who have attained 18 years of age as on July 1, 2026, to submit Form-6 through their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and become part of the democratic process. Citizens can also seek assistance or register grievances through the 1950 Election Helpline.

SDM Issues Safety Guidelines for Kanwar Camps Ahead of Pilgrimage
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jaspal Singh Gill chaired a meeting with Kanwar camp organisers and officials of various departments at his office, directing them to ensure comprehensive safety arrangements and essential facilities for devotees during the upcoming Kanwar Yatra.
The SDM said the safety and convenience of Kanwariyas remain the administration’s highest priority. He instructed organisers to establish camps at least 100 feet away from the main road and strictly avoid setting up camps beneath high-voltage transmission lines.
Gill made it clear that the use of intoxicating substances, including bhang, would be completely prohibited inside the camps. Organisers were instructed to obtain prior permission for camp sites and ensure that loudspeakers operate within permissible sound limits to avoid inconvenience to the public.
He directed camp organisers to install adequate fire extinguishers, obtain authorised temporary electricity connections, maintain uninterrupted lighting and ensure 24-hour first-aid facilities. Separate accommodation arrangements for male and female devotees, secure spaces for keeping Kanwars and proper parking facilities were also made mandatory.
Emphasising cleanliness, the SDM instructed organisers to maintain hygienic kitchens and ensure that food waste and other materials are not scattered on roads. The use of polythene, thermocol and single-use plastic has been prohibited in all camps.
Gill further directed organisers to complete police verification of all volunteers and maintain a register recording details of devotees arriving and departing from the camps. Such records, he said, would assist authorities in tracing missing pilgrims if required.
He also advised Kanwar pilgrims to exercise caution while bathing in canals and other water bodies, warning that deep water at several locations poses a risk of accidents. In case of emergencies, devotees were advised to contact Dial 112 for police or ambulance assistance.
The SDM stated that administrative and police officials would conduct regular inspections of Kanwar camps and warned that compliance with all safety and administrative guidelines would be the responsibility of camp organisers.
Officials from the police, health, public health, electricity, food supplies and revenue departments, along with Kanwar camp organisers and other dignitaries, attended the meeting.
