Two Arrested in Attempted ATM Break-In Near Bilaspur
The Anti-Burglary Staff-cum-Anti-Narcotics Cell-2 has arrested two men accused of attempting to break open an ATM near the Chhota Bus Stand in Bilaspur, Yamunanagar district. Police said the attempt did not result in any cash being stolen, but the machine reportedly suffered damage estimated at approximately ₹2 lakh.
According to the police account, a complaint was received by Vyas-pur police on October 8. It stated that an ATM near the Chhota Bus Stand in Bilaspur had been targeted during the night. The machine was allegedly damaged in an attempt to break it open, although no cash was reported stolen. Police registered a case on the basis of the complaint and began investigating.
Cell in-charge Raman Chandel said the team received confidential information that two young men were moving around with the alleged intention of committing an offence. Acting on the input, a team comprising ASI Surender Singh and personnel Kuldeep, Gaurav, Dinesh and Navtej was formed. The team subsequently apprehended the two suspects.
Police identified them as Jaichand alias Mula, son of Meghraj and a resident of Milk Khas, and Shubham alias Guni, son of Gulshan Kumar and a resident of Araiyawala.
During questioning, police said, the two men admitted their alleged involvement in the attempted ATM break-in. The police spokesperson further stated that the suspects had allegedly been drinking alcohol before deciding to target the ATM. After failing to break it open, they reportedly left the spot.
Police said both accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. Further details about additional evidence or the next stage of the investigation were not provided in the information released.
The case highlights the financial impact that an attempted theft can cause even when cash is not taken. According to the police complaint, damage to the ATM was estimated at around ₹2 lakh. The amount is the reported estimate in the case and has not been independently verified by this publication.
PO Staff Arrests Two Accused, Including Four-Year Fugitive
In a separate operation, Yamunanagar’s Proclaimed Offender Staff arrested two accused as part of a district police drive targeting proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers. Police said one of the men had allegedly been evading arrest for approximately four years after being declared a proclaimed offender by a court.

According to the police spokesperson, the operation was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. A special team was constituted under PO Staff in-charge Inspector Jagbir Singh, with ASI Ashwini and personnel Sandeep, Mahavir, Rajat and Bharti among those included in the team.
Police identified the arrested men as Roshan, son of Samoon and a resident of Muzaffat Kalan village, and Deepak Gupta, son of Rajesh Gupta and a resident of Laxmi Nagar.
The police account states that the accused were involved in a criminal case and had been declared proclaimed offenders by the court after failing to appear in proceedings. Roshan had allegedly remained at large for four years, according to the department’s statement.
Acting on confidential information and through coordinated efforts, the team apprehended both men. Police said they were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody for further legal proceedings.
The statement did not specify the underlying offence, the court case number or the precise date on which the proclamation order was issued. Those details have therefore not been inferred in this report.
The PO Staff operation forms part of the district police’s stated campaign to trace people declared proclaimed offenders and those accused of violating bail conditions. The legal status and allegations in each case will be determined through the applicable judicial process.
Police Say Enforcement Drive Will Continue
The police spokesperson said the district’s campaign against offenders and absconding accused would continue. Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal praised the PO Staff team for its work, according to the statement, and said action against offenders would remain a priority.
The two operations involve separate cases and different police teams. In the ATM case, the investigation concerns alleged damage to an ATM during an unsuccessful attempt to steal cash. In the second case, police say they have arrested two accused who had been declared proclaimed offenders by a court.
