Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell takes accused on production warrant and police remand; search continues for another suspect

Yamunanagar Police have intensified their crackdown on crime and criminals, with the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell taking an accused in a truck theft case on production warrant and securing his police remand for further investigation. Police said the stolen truck, a tipper, had already been recovered from Sonipat, while efforts are continuing to trace another person allegedly involved in the theft.
According to a police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal has issued strict directions to district police officials to take effective action against crime and those involved in criminal activities. Acting on these directions, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell has stepped up investigation into vehicle theft cases and initiated further proceedings in the tipper theft case.
Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell, said a complaint was lodged on August 15 by Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Ujjal Majri village in Ambala district. The complainant told police that his truck, a tipper, had been parked at a screening plant in Nizampur village when it was allegedly stolen by unidentified persons.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the concerned police station and an investigation was initiated. Police teams began working to trace the stolen vehicle as well as identify the persons allegedly responsible for the theft.
During the investigation, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell recovered the stolen tipper from Sonipat on August 20. Following the recovery of the vehicle, police constituted a dedicated team to identify and arrest the persons allegedly involved in the theft.
Investigators subsequently received information about an accused identified as Khalid Khan, son of Hasan Mohammad, a resident of Adbar village in Nuh district. Police said Khalid Khan was already lodged in District Jail, Sonipat, in connection with another case.
According to the police investigation, Khalid Khan allegedly confessed to his involvement in the incident during questioning. Police said the accused had admitted to carrying out the theft during the night of August 15.
Since the accused was already in judicial custody in another case, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell obtained his production warrant from the court. He was subsequently brought before the court and taken on police remand for further investigation into the tipper theft case.
During the remand period, investigators questioned the accused about the circumstances surrounding the theft and sought information about other persons who may have been involved in the incident. Police also conducted identification and spot-related proceedings based on information provided during the investigation.
The investigation is focused not only on establishing the precise circumstances in which the tipper was allegedly stolen but also on identifying the role of other persons who may have assisted in the crime. Police are examining the information obtained during questioning and other evidence collected during the investigation.
After completion of the police remand, the accused was produced before the court. The court subsequently sent him to judicial custody.
Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell, said the investigation into the case is continuing. He added that the search for another accused allegedly involved in the case is still underway and police expect to arrest the person soon.
The recovery of the stolen tipper from Sonipat was an important development in the investigation, as it enabled police to secure the vehicle and proceed further with efforts to identify the persons allegedly responsible. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding its movement from the screening plant in Nizampur to the location where it was recovered.
Vehicle theft remains a significant concern for owners of commercial vehicles, particularly trucks and tippers that are often parked at industrial sites, screening plants, construction locations and other work areas. Police investigations in such cases typically require tracing the stolen vehicle as well as establishing the chain of persons involved in its movement.
In this case, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell initiated further action after the vehicle was recovered and information about an alleged suspect emerged during the investigation. Since the identified accused was already in jail in another case, police followed the production warrant procedure to bring him before the court and seek his custody for questioning.
The police spokesperson said the district police are continuing to act on the directions of SP Kamaldeep Goyal to strengthen action against offenders and improve investigation into property-related crimes. Dedicated teams are being used to pursue cases involving vehicle theft and trace stolen vehicles and suspects.
Police said the investigation would also seek to determine whether the accused acted alone or with the assistance of others. The alleged involvement of another suspect remains under investigation, and police have launched efforts to locate and arrest the person.
Officials said information obtained during police remand is being examined along with other evidence available in the case. The investigation will proceed in accordance with the applicable legal procedure.
The police have not disclosed further details about the identity of the other alleged accused or the specific role attributed to that person, as the investigation is still underway.
The case began with the complaint filed on August 15 after the tipper was found missing from the screening plant in Nizampur. The subsequent recovery of the vehicle from Sonipat on August 20 gave investigators a lead in the case and was followed by the formation of a team to trace the alleged offenders.
The arrest of Khalid Khan through a production warrant represents the latest development in the investigation. Police said his questioning was aimed at establishing the circumstances of the alleged theft and obtaining information that could help investigators trace other persons connected with the case.
Following his production before the court after the completion of remand, Khalid Khan was sent to judicial custody. The police investigation, however, remains open as officers continue efforts to locate the other accused.
The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell said further action would be taken on the basis of evidence gathered during the investigation. Police also reiterated that efforts to trace stolen vehicles and take action against those allegedly involved in vehicle theft would continue under the supervision of senior officers.
The allegations against Khalid Khan and any other person named during the investigation remain subject to the judicial process. The police investigation is continuing, and the final responsibility of any accused will be determined by the competent court on the basis of evidence and legal proceedings.
