A total of 446 people underwent health screening at a health check-up and yoga camp organised by the Municipal Corporation at the Community Centre in Sector-17, Yamunanagar, on Wednesday under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and Swachhata Hi Seva initiatives.

The participants included sanitation workers and Municipal Corporation employees. Of the 446 people screened, 182 underwent Ayurvedic health assessment while 264 received examination under the general medical system. The programme combined routine health screening with a message on the importance of yoga and preventive health care.

Health Camp Inaugurated by Senior Leaders

The camp was jointly inaugurated by MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora, former Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad and BJP district president Rajesh Sapra. They inspected the arrangements, interacted with people who had come for health checks and encouraged participants to pay regular attention to their health.

The guests also participated in the yoga session and encouraged people to make yoga a regular part of their daily routine. The organisers said the objective was to connect health screening with greater awareness about preventive care and healthy daily habits.

Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Eyes and Dental Health Checked

The medical team conducted examinations covering blood sugar, blood pressure, dental health, eyesight and general health. The team included Dr Prateek, in-charge and medical officer at the HUDA Dispensary; dental surgeon Dr Shruti; pharmacy officer Kamal Kumar; laboratory technician Sumit Kumar; and Civil Hospital Jagadhri eye specialist Dr Richa, along with other medical staff.

According to the organisers, 264 people received general health check-ups, while blood pressure and blood sugar were checked for 262 people. Dental examinations were conducted for 126 people and eye examinations for 132 people.

People requiring treatment were provided medicines at the camp, while participants also received medical advice. The organisers said the arrangement was intended to make basic screening and consultation accessible to employees and sanitation workers participating in the programme.

182 People Receive Ayurvedic Assessment

Alongside the general medical screening, 182 people underwent Ayurvedic health assessment. The inclusion of the Ayurvedic system allowed participants to seek guidance through a traditional system of medicine as part of the broader health-awareness programme.

The camp therefore brought together different forms of health consultation under one programme, while placing emphasis on early awareness and regular attention to personal health. Participants were encouraged to seek professional medical advice whenever they had health concerns rather than ignoring persistent symptoms.

Focus on Health of Sanitation Workers

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad briefed participants about activities being conducted under the Seva Sankalp and Swachhata Hi Seva campaigns. He also discussed preparations for the Haryana Safai Mahakumbh and appealed to people to complete their registration before October 3.

MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora said a healthy body enables a person to perform responsibilities more effectively. Highlighting the contribution of sanitation workers in keeping the city clean, he said their health also deserves attention and care.

Arora said regular health check-ups and yoga can support efforts towards a healthier lifestyle. He encouraged people to develop habits that promote regular physical activity and greater attention to their well-being.

Yoga and Preventive Health Awareness

Former Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal said the Seva Sankalp campaign was linking health and cleanliness with public awareness. He encouraged people to make yoga part of their regular routine and said maintaining healthy habits can contribute to overall well-being.

BJP district president Rajesh Sapra said organising a health camp for sanitation workers and Municipal Corporation employees was an important initiative. He said employees who work continuously to maintain the city’s cleanliness also need attention towards their own health and safety.

Officials and Public Representatives Attend

The programme was attended by Market Committee Jagadhri chairman Vipul Garg, Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Vikas Dhiman, Chief Sanitation Inspector Harjit Singh, Amit Kamboj, Vinod Bainwal, BJYM district president Nischal Chaudhary, councillors Priyank Sharma, Reena Rastogi and Jayant Swami, Bhanu Pratap, Ankit Kumar, Dixit, BJP district general secretary Narendra Singh Rana, Jagdish Vidyarthi, Krishna Khadri and others.

The participation of civic officials, medical staff, public representatives and employees gave the camp a wider community focus. The screening activities also provided participants with an opportunity to receive basic health information and consultation in a single location.

Health Awareness Beyond a Single Camp

The organisers stressed the importance of making health awareness a continuing part of daily life. Regular screening, appropriate medical consultation, physical activity and attention to personal well-being can help people remain more aware of their health needs.

For sanitation and civic employees in particular, maintaining health is closely connected with their ability to carry out demanding daily responsibilities. The camp placed their health needs within the broader public message of cleanliness, service and community well-being.
