Preparations for the Independence Day celebrations are progressing rapidly across Yamunanagar, with the district administration working to ensure that the main celebrations is organised in a grand, dignified and memorable manner.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti and Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel jointly inspected the preparations underway at the Anaj Mandi, the venue for the district-level Independence Day function. They reviewed arrangements at the site and issued directions to officials to complete all remaining preparations within the stipulated time.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure that every arrangement connected with the national celebration is completed well in advance. Special attention, she said, should be given to security, traffic management, drinking water, electricity supply, cleanliness, seating arrangements and other essential facilities at the venue.
She emphasised that all departments must work in close coordination so that the Independence Day function is conducted with dignity and without inconvenience to visitors, participants or invited guests.
A major attraction of the celebration will be the cultural presentations prepared by school students. Children from participating schools are rehearsing patriotic songs, group dances and other cultural performances with enthusiasm and dedication.
The students are regularly attending rehearsals and working to improve their performances ahead of the final programme. The administration said that the enthusiasm among students for the national festival has been particularly high, with children preparing presentations centred around patriotism, national unity and the spirit of Independence.
The programme will also feature a special performance by personnel of the Haryana Police Academy.
According to the district administration, Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh Goel will unfurl the national flag during the Independence Day ceremony and take the salute at the parade.
The Governor will also honour freedom fighters and members of their families and other dependants, along with war widows and individuals who have made notable contributions in different fields. Social workers, officers and employees who have performed commendably are also scheduled to be recognised during the समारोह.
As part of the final preparations, the district administration organised a full-dress rehearsal at the venue. School students presented patriotic cultural programmes, group dances, patriotic songs and other performances during the rehearsal.
The students participated with discipline and enthusiasm, giving the administration an opportunity to review the sequence and overall presentation of the programmes before the main event.
Officials said the performances prepared by the students would convey messages of patriotism, national unity and brotherhood. The rehearsal also helped organisers assess the arrangements and identify areas requiring final attention before Independence Day.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti said Independence Day is an occasion to remember the contribution, sacrifice and courage of the freedom fighters who played a historic role in India’s struggle for independence.
She said participation by schoolchildren in national celebrations helps strengthen their sense of patriotism, discipline and responsibility towards the country. Students, she added, should be encouraged to participate actively in national occasions so that they develop a deeper understanding of the country’s history and democratic values.
She also emphasised that Independence Day is not merely a ceremonial occasion but an opportunity to remember the sacrifices made for the country’s freedom and to reinforce the values of unity and national responsibility.
SP Kamaldeep Goel separately reviewed the security and traffic arrangements at the venue. During his inspection, he assessed the arrangements being made for the movement of visitors and participants and issued necessary directions to police and other officials.
Goel said Independence Day is a festival of national pride and honour and there should be no shortcomings in security arrangements during the programme.
He directed officials to ensure adequate deployment of police personnel at the venue and maintain smooth traffic movement before, during and after the function.
Particular attention, he said, should be given to parking arrangements and entry and exit points so that people attending the celebration do not face unnecessary inconvenience.
The SP also instructed police officers to coordinate closely with one another while performing their assigned duties. He said the security arrangements should be planned in a manner that allows citizens to participate in the national celebration comfortably while maintaining the required security standards.
The district administration is coordinating with various departments to complete the arrangements on schedule. Officials are also reviewing the venue, stage, seating, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, traffic and security arrangements as part of the final preparations.
The full-dress rehearsal provided an opportunity for the participating schools, police personnel and administrative teams to coordinate their respective roles before the main Independence Day programme.
The administration has urged all departments to remain focused on completing their assigned responsibilities within the prescribed timeline.
The district-level celebration is expected to bring together students, government officials, public representatives, freedom fighters and their families, social workers and citizens to mark the country’s Independence Day.
The administration said every effort is being made to ensure that the celebration reflects the spirit of patriotism and national unity while maintaining proper arrangements for the public.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Navin Ahuja, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad, ASP Ashish Chaudhary, Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, City Magistrate Piyush Gupta, District Revenue Officer Tarun Sahota, District Education Officer Prem Lata, DIPRO Dr Manoj Kumar and officials from various departments were present during the inspection and preparations.
