Round-the-clock administrative monitoring from July 30 to August 11 as district gears up for the annual pilgrimage

The Yamunanagar district administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra by appointing duty magistrates across the district. District Magistrate Preeti said the deployment has been ordered in anticipation of lakhs of Kanwariyas carrying holy Ganga water through various routes of the district on their way to their destinations.
Exercising powers under Sections 16(1) and 17(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, the District Magistrate has appointed duty magistrates for all police station jurisdictions from July 30 to August 11, 2026. The officers will remain on duty round the clock to ensure law and order, coordinate with police and other departments, and respond immediately to any emergency during the pilgrimage.
Duty magistrates have been posted in Yamunanagar City, Jagadhri City, Sadar Yamunanagar, Sadar Jagadhri, Farakpur, Vyaspur, Sadhaura, Chhappar, Chhachhrauli, Pratap Nagar, Budia, Radaur, Jathlana, Sector-17 HUDA and Gandhi Nagar police station areas.
Officers from departments including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, AYUSH, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Education, Sports, Electricity, Panchayati Raj, Information and Public Relations, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and the District Council have been assigned responsibilities in two shifts—from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am.
The administration said the deployment has been planned to ensure uninterrupted monitoring throughout the Kanwar Yatra, facilitate quick administrative decisions during emergencies and maintain close coordination between civil and police authorities. Officials have also been instructed to ensure smooth traffic management, public safety and uninterrupted movement of devotees.
District Magistrate Preeti appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration, follow traffic advisories and comply with instructions issued by police and civil authorities so that the Kanwar Yatra concludes peacefully and safely.
