Mayor Suman Bahmani and MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora lay foundation stones for renovation and beautification projects in Ward 8

— The Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation has stepped up development, beautification and renewal works across the city, with two parks in the Model Town area of Ward 8 now set to undergo redevelopment and improvement at a combined estimated cost of ₹15.13 lakh.
Mayor Suman Bahmani and MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora, in the presence of Ward 8 councillor Vibhor Pahuja, laid the foundation stones for the two projects on Saturday. The development works were formally inaugurated by breaking coconuts at both sites.
The projects are aimed at improving the condition and appearance of the two parks and providing residents with cleaner, more attractive and more convenient public spaces for recreation and daily activities. The Municipal Corporation said the works are part of its continuing efforts to improve civic infrastructure and public amenities across different wards of the city.
According to the Mayor, ₹7.30 lakh will be spent on the redevelopment and renovation of the park located behind the Jain Sthanak in Model Town. The second project involves the renovation and beautification of the park situated near Santpura Gurdwara at Tubewell No. 5, for which an estimated ₹7.83 lakh has been allocated.
The two projects together represent an investment of ₹15.13 lakh in neighbourhood-level public infrastructure. The planned improvements are intended to enhance essential facilities in the parks and make them more useful for residents living in the surrounding areas.
Bahmani said the Municipal Corporation’s priority is to ensure balanced development across all wards rather than concentrating civic works in selected parts of the city. She said development of neighbourhood parks is an important component of urban improvement because such spaces provide residents with opportunities for walking, recreation and spending time outdoors.
She said once the renovation works are completed, residents living around the two parks will have better facilities for morning and evening walks, while children will have improved spaces for playing. Better-maintained parks can also contribute to a cleaner and more pleasant neighbourhood environment, she added.
The Mayor said the Corporation is focusing not only on the beautification of Yamunanagar but also on strengthening basic civic amenities for residents. Public spaces, she said, require regular maintenance and improvement to remain safe, functional and accessible to the community.
Bahmani also stressed that there would be no compromise on the quality of development works. She said the concerned officials should ensure that the projects are executed according to the prescribed standards and that the expenditure is utilised effectively for the intended improvements.
The Mayor said development of parks has significance beyond their visual appearance. Well-maintained green and recreational spaces can provide residents with places for physical activity and leisure while contributing to the overall environment of residential areas.
She said the Municipal Corporation would continue to undertake development and beautification works in different parts of the city according to local requirements. The objective, she added, is to ensure that residents across wards benefit from improved public infrastructure and better civic facilities.
MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora said development works were being accelerated in the city and described parks as an important part of both urban aesthetics and a healthy environment. He said the redevelopment of the two parks in Model Town would benefit residents of the surrounding localities while also improving the appearance of the area.
Arora said public parks serve as accessible community spaces where people can walk, exercise and spend leisure time. For children, such facilities also provide an important place for outdoor activities. He said improving existing parks can therefore contribute to the quality of life of residents.
The MLA said the government and Municipal Corporation were working together to give a new direction to the development of Yamunanagar. He said efforts were being made continuously to strengthen civic infrastructure and improve facilities available to residents.
The foundation-laying ceremony marked the beginning of the two park projects in Model Town. With separate allocations for each location, the Corporation intends to undertake renovation and beautification according to the requirements of the respective sites.
The project near the Jain Sthanak will receive ₹7.30 lakh for redevelopment and renovation, while the park near Tubewell No. 5 close to Santpura Gurdwara will be renovated and beautified at a cost of ₹7.83 lakh.
The initiatives also reflect the importance being given to smaller neighbourhood-level projects that directly affect residents’ everyday lives. While large infrastructure projects often attract attention, improvements to local parks can have a direct impact on families and senior citizens who use these spaces regularly.
The Municipal Corporation said the objective of the works is to provide residents with a clean, attractive and convenient environment. The improved facilities are expected to make the parks more suitable for recreational activities and regular community use.
Local representatives and BJP leaders were present during the foundation-laying ceremony. The gathering included BJP leaders Girish Puri, Krishan Garg, Mohit Gera, Mohit Maniktala and Anurag Jain, besides Junior Engineer Ajay Kumar and others.
The presence of elected representatives and officials at the launch underlined the civic administration’s focus on neighbourhood development. The projects will now move into the execution phase, with the Corporation expected to ensure that the planned renovation and beautification works are completed according to the prescribed specifications.
The development of the two parks is expected to provide residents of Model Town with improved recreational facilities while contributing to the overall visual improvement of Ward 8. The initiative is also part of the broader effort to improve public spaces and civic amenities across Yamunanagar.
