Anti Terrorist Front India chief pays tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh, calls on youth to uphold the Constitution and the Tricolour with unwavering commitment

On the 87th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh,Anti Terrorist Front India National President Veeresh Shandilya paid floral tributes at the martyr’s statue in Kurukshetra and urged the nation to preserve the ideals of sacrifice, patriotism and national unity. Shandilya had arrived in Kurukshetra to attend a programme hosted by BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, but before participating in the event, he visited Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk to pay homage to the legendary freedom fighter. Addressing mediapersons, Shandilya said the freedom enjoyed by 1.4 billion Indians today was made possible because of the supreme sacrifices of revolutionaries like Udham Singh. He called upon the youth to remain committed to protecting India’s Constitution and the national flag, saying that the younger generation should draw inspiration from the courage and patriotism displayed by the legendary martyr. Recalling the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, Shandilya said Udham Singh fulfilled his pledge by travelling to London and assassinating Michael O’Dwyer, whom he held responsible for the massacre, before embracing martyrdom himself. He described Udham Singh as an enduring symbol of courage and resistance against injustice. Shandilya also reiterated his organisation’s commitment to campaigning against terrorism and activities that threaten India’s unity and integrity. He said the Anti Terrorist Front India would continue to honour the legacy of the country’s freedom fighters and work towards strengthening national consciousness. He further urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider featuring portraits of India’s freedom fighters on Indian currency notes. He said revolutionaries such as Shaheed Udham Singh, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Madan Lal Dhingra, Khudiram Bose and Kartar Singh Sarabha deserved national recognition on currency so that future generations could remember the sacrifices made for India’s independence. Among those present were Anti Terrorist Front India National Secretary Rajinder Singh Bittu and Vasu Panchal.
