Special assemblies held at Jagadhri and Vyasapur campuses to honour teachers and remember former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

St Lawrence International School, Jagadhri and Vyasapur, celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm and a series of activities designed to honour educators and acknowledge their invaluable contribution to the lives of students. Special prayer assemblies and teacher felicitation programmes were organised at both campuses, bringing together students, teachers and members of the school administration.
The celebrations were organised to pay respectful tribute to renowned educationist and former President of India Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose contribution to education and public life continues to be remembered on Teachers’ Day. The programme also provided students with an opportunity to express their gratitude towards teachers for their guidance, dedication and contribution to their academic and personal development.

The celebrations subsequently moved into a lively cultural programme in which students participated with enthusiasm. The school also used Teachers’ Day as an opportunity to promote environmental awareness. Plantation drives were organised at both the Jagadhri and Vyasapur campuses, with teachers and students joining hands to plant saplings.
The plantation initiative connected the values of education with environmental responsibility. Students were encouraged to understand that creating a healthy environment requires sustained individual and collective efforts. They were also motivated to take responsibility for the care and protection of the saplings planted during the campaign.
The school emphasised that planting trees is only the first step and that their survival depends on regular care. Students were therefore encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility towards plants and to carry the message of environmental conservation beyond the school campus.

Addressing the school community, chairperson Dr Rajni Sehgal said teachers were not merely providers of knowledge but also played a crucial role in shaping the character, values and future of students. Dr Sehgal extended warm Teachers’ Day greetings to all educators and appreciated their commitment and sincerity. She highlighted the wider responsibilities of teachers, noting that their influence goes beyond academic instruction and contributes to the development of students as individuals.
She said the relationship between a teacher and student is based not only on classroom learning but also on guidance, encouragement and understanding. Teachers help young people develop their abilities while also encouraging them to adopt values that can guide them throughout their lives.
School chairman Dr M. K. Sehgal also conveyed his Teachers’ Day message and described teachers as the foundation of nation-building. He said educators, through their knowledge, values and guidance, not only help students achieve success but also inspire them to become responsible and sensitive citizens.
Dr M. K. Sehgal extended his greetings to all teachers and appreciated their continuous efforts and dedication. He emphasised that the quality of education is closely connected with the commitment of teachers and that educators have an important role in preparing young people to contribute positively to society.
The chairman’s message also highlighted the broader social significance of teaching. A successful education system, he said, must equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with a sense of responsibility, sensitivity and awareness of their role as citizens.
