Despite the ongoing strike by sanitation workers, the Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation has made special arrangements to ensure that the city’s cleanliness and waste-management system remains functional. The civic body said the strike has not been allowed to disrupt door-to-door garbage collection or the lifting of waste from identified garbage-vulnerable points.

According to the Municipal Corporation, the agency engaged for door-to-door waste collection is continuing to collect garbage regularly from households and colonies across all wards. At the same time, the corporation has deployed JCB machines, loaders and tractor-trolleys to lift accumulated waste from garbage-vulnerable points, commonly referred to as GVPs.

The corporation said these arrangements are aimed at ensuring that residents do not face inconvenience because of the sanitation workers’ strike. Field teams have been directed to maintain regular monitoring of sanitation activities and respond promptly to complaints related to garbage accumulation.

Ward-wise responsibility assigned:

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said ward-wise responsibilities have been assigned to senior sanitation officials to maintain effective supervision of cleanliness operations.

He said Chief Sanitation Inspector Harjit Singh is supervising sanitation arrangements in Wards 1 to 8, while Chief Sanitation Inspector Govind Sharma has been assigned Wards 9 to 15. Chief Sanitation Inspector Vinod Beniwal is overseeing sanitation work in Wards 16 to 22.

The officials and their teams are continuously working in the field to ensure that the city’s sanitation arrangements remain unaffected. Regular inspections are being carried out to monitor garbage collection and lifting operations and to identify locations requiring immediate attention.

Mahabir Prasad said the corporation is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to prevent the accumulation of garbage in residential and public areas.

Residents urged to use helpline:

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar said residents can report sanitation-related problems through the civic body’s helpline 7082410824.

Residents can use the helpline to register complaints regarding garbage heaps, waste lifting or other sanitation-related issues. The corporation has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the sanitation teams and help maintain cleanliness during the current situation.

Officials also urged residents to hand over household waste to the designated door-to-door collection vehicle at the prescribed time and avoid dumping garbage at public places.

The Municipal Corporation said continued cooperation from residents, along with regular field monitoring and waste-lifting arrangements, would help maintain cleanliness across Yamunanagar despite the sanitation workers’ strike.
