RADAUR | PEN OF DEMOCRACY NEWS DESK

A 35-member delegation from the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency will travel to Indore on October 9 to study the city’s sanitation model as part of an initiative under the Seva Sankalp campaign. The visit is aimed at understanding practices that have helped Indore establish a strong reputation for urban cleanliness and public participation.

The delegation is travelling under the guidance of MP Naveen Jindal, who, according to Radaur Municipal Council chairman Rajnish Mehta, has a vision of making the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency a model for cleanliness in the country.

Focus on practical sanitation systems

Mehta said the delegation would study door-to-door waste collection, garbage processing, sewage treatment plants and the public participation model followed in Indore. The members are also expected to interact with administrative officials and local representatives to understand how sanitation practices have been sustained and developed into a wider public movement.

The purpose of the study, according to Mehta, is not limited to observing sanitation infrastructure. The delegation will also examine the role of citizens, local administration and elected representatives in maintaining cleanliness as a regular public responsibility.

Report to guide future cleanliness campaign

After returning from Indore, the delegation will prepare a detailed report based on its observations. The findings are expected to form the basis for a broader sanitation campaign across the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency under the leadership of MP Naveen Jindal.

According to Mehta, awareness programmes will subsequently be organised in villages and urban areas with the objective of encouraging residents to make cleanliness a part of their daily routine. The initiative is intended to combine administrative efforts with greater public participation.

RADAUR | PEN OF DEMOCRACY NEWS DESK

Leaders of the Indian National Lok Dal visited the grain market to review arrangements for paddy procurement and interact with farmers about difficulties being faced in selling their produce. The leaders urged the government to expedite the procurement process so that farmers can receive timely payment.

INLD leaders Kamal Kamboj Chamrauri, Surender Dhanda, Subhash Purngarh, Karnail Sagri and Sukhbir Fauji spoke to farmers during the visit and sought details of the problems they were facing in the market.

Leaders raise concern over procurement and prices

The INLD leaders said the festive and wedding season was approaching, while farmers were still waiting for an adequate price for their paddy crop. They argued that delays in procurement could create additional financial pressure on farmers who depend on the sale of their harvest to meet seasonal and household expenses.

They demanded that the government speed up the procurement process and ensure that farmers are able to sell their produce without unnecessary delays. They also stressed the importance of timely payment after procurement so that farmers can manage their financial commitments.
