Mayor offers prayers at celebrations organised at ISKCON Temple, Sanatan Dharam Temple and Brahma Kumaris Ashram

Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Suman Bahmani participated in religious programmes organised at different locations in the city on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami and offered prayers for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of residents.
During her visits, the Mayor joined devotees in the celebrations and sought the blessings of Lord Krishna. She said that festivals such as Janmashtami provide an opportunity for people to reconnect with spiritual values while strengthening social harmony, brotherhood and a sense of collective well-being.
Bahmani first visited the grand Janmashtami programme organised by the ISKCON Temple at Saubhagya Resort. During the event, she performed the Jalabhishek of the child form of Lord Krishna and offered prayers. She also prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for the people of Haryana and residents of Yamunanagar.
A large number of devotees participated in the religious programme, creating a festive and devotional atmosphere. The celebration featured religious activities centred around Lord Krishna, with devotees coming together to mark the auspicious occasion.
The Mayor subsequently reached the Shri Sanatan Dharam Temple in Model Town, where she attended the Janmashtami celebration as the chief guest. She inaugurated a beautifully prepared tableau depicting Lord Krishna by cutting the ribbon.
Bahmani then lit the ceremonial lamp to formally inaugurate the devotional evening. She also offered prayers at the temple and sought blessings for peace, happiness and prosperity in the lives of residents.
The programme at the Sanatan Dharam Temple brought devotees together in an atmosphere of religious faith and celebration. The beautifully presented tableau and devotional programme added to the festive spirit of Janmashtami and attracted a large gathering.
The Mayor later visited Bhattli village, where the Brahma Kumaris Ashram, Thana Chhappar, had organised another Janmashtami programme. She inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp and subsequently viewed the tableaux prepared for the occasion.
Addressing devotees during her visits, Bahmani said the life of Lord Krishna conveys enduring messages of love, compassion, righteousness and duty. She said Krishna’s childhood stories bring joy and devotion to the hearts of devotees, while the teachings contained in the Bhagavad Gita provide guidance for people facing different challenges in life.
She said one of the central messages associated with Lord Krishna is that people should continue performing their duties sincerely without becoming excessively concerned about the fruits of their actions. According to Bahmani, circumstances may change and difficulties may arise, but people should remain committed to truth and righteousness while fulfilling their responsibilities.
The Mayor said the teachings of Lord Krishna have continuing relevance in contemporary life, particularly in encouraging people to maintain a positive outlook and remain committed to their responsibilities towards their families and society.
She said religious festivals also play an important role in bringing communities together. Such occasions provide people with an opportunity to participate collectively in cultural and spiritual activities while strengthening bonds of mutual respect and brotherhood.
Bahmani prayed that the blessings of Lord Krishna remain with everyone and that an atmosphere of love, harmony, brotherhood and positivity becomes stronger in society. She also conveyed her greetings to residents on the occasion of Janmashtami.
The Mayor’s participation in religious programmes at different locations reflected the widespread community celebrations marking the festival across Yamunanagar. Devotees participated in prayers and viewed the tableaux prepared to depict various aspects associated with Lord Krishna.
The programmes also highlighted the role played by religious and social organisations in organising community events during major festivals. Such gatherings provide a common platform for residents to participate in celebrations and reinforce cultural traditions.
At the Sanatan Dharam Temple, the Mayor’s participation in the inauguration of the Krishna tableau and devotional evening added to the significance of the celebration. At Bhattli village, her interaction with the organisers and devotees further emphasised the community-oriented nature of the festival.
The celebrations were attended by local public representatives, office-bearers of religious and social organisations, party workers and a large number of devotees. MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora, BJP district president Rajesh Sapra, Mandal president Bhavan Sagar, Mandal president Shubham Rana and Sanatan Dharam Temple president Subhash Mehta were among those present.
Other representatives and members of various organisations also participated in the programmes.
The Janmashtami celebrations across the three venues combined religious observance with messages of social harmony and cultural continuity. Devotees gathered to seek blessings and celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, while organisers used the occasion to promote spiritual values and community participation.
Bahmani said the teachings of Lord Krishna should inspire people to perform their duties with sincerity, remain committed to truth and righteousness and contribute positively to society. She expressed hope that the spirit of Janmashtami would encourage greater compassion, mutual respect and harmony among people.
The Mayor concluded her visits by extending her best wishes to the residents of Yamunanagar and praying for their continued happiness, prosperity, peace and well-being. The celebrations ended with devotees participating in religious activities and seeking divine blessings on the auspicious occasion.
