Police recover stolen jewellery from accused following complaint by Bhilpura resident; suspect sent to judicial custody

Pratap Nagar Police have arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of gold jewellery from a house in Bhilpura village and recovered the stolen jewellery from his possession. The accused was produced before the court and subsequently sent to judicial custody, while police said further investigation into the case is underway.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep as part of the district police’s continuing efforts to investigate property-related offences and recover stolen valuables.
According to police, the case came to light after a resident of Bhilpura village, Rohitas, approached the police with a complaint regarding the disappearance of gold jewellery from his house.
Police said the complainant had engaged construction workers to install tiles in the courtyard of his house. On August 21, he noticed that an iron storage box kept inside the house appeared to have been moved or lifted from one side. When he checked the box, he reportedly found that the gold jewellery kept inside it was missing.
The complainant subsequently informed the police that an unidentified person had allegedly entered the house and stolen the jewellery. Based on his complaint, a case was registered at Pratap Nagar Police Station and an investigation was initiated.
Police said that efforts were immediately undertaken to identify and apprehend the person allegedly responsible for the theft. A special team was constituted under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh to investigate the case and trace the stolen jewellery.
During the investigation, the police team identified a suspect and subsequently arrested Pravesh Kumar, son of Jeevan Ram, a resident of Jaidhar village.
Following his arrest, police questioned the accused and recovered the stolen jewellery from his possession. Officials said the recovery was an important development in the investigation and would help establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft.
Police are examining the circumstances in which the jewellery was allegedly removed from the house and are also verifying the sequence of events leading up to the theft. Investigators are expected to examine information regarding the people present at or visiting the house around the time of the incident.
The police have also been verifying the recovered jewellery in connection with the complaint to establish that the items recovered are those reported missing by the complainant.
After completing the necessary proceedings, the accused was produced before the court. The court sent him to judicial custody.
Police said the investigation has not yet been concluded and that further action will be taken on the basis of evidence gathered during the investigation.
The incident has also highlighted the importance of maintaining vigilance when construction or repair work is being carried out inside residential premises. Police advise residents to remain aware of people entering their homes for construction, repair or other work and to keep valuable belongings secured.
The district police continue to investigate property-related offences and have appealed to residents to immediately report suspicious activity or any information related to theft cases. Timely reporting can help investigators collect evidence and improve the chances of recovering stolen property.
Police officials said strict action would be taken against those found involved in theft and other property-related offences. The recovery of the jewellery following the arrest is being treated as an important step in the investigation.
The Pratap Nagar Police team is now examining all available evidence to establish the complete circumstances of the incident and determine whether any other person was involved. Further findings will depend on the ongoing investigation.
