Haryana Government issues appointment order; former HSSC chief and senior BJP functionary to serve in key administrative role

The Haryana Government has appointed Bhopal Singh Khadri, former Chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), as the Special Grievance Redressal Officer to the Chief Minister. The appointment was formalised through an order issued on July 12 by Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi.According to the official order, Khadri has been appointed on a temporary basis and will continue in the position for as long as the Chief Minister considers it appropriate. The order states that details regarding his salary, allowances and other terms and conditions of service will be notified separately. Bhopal Singh Khadri previously served as the Chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission after being appointed to the post on March 23, 2021. Although his tenure was scheduled to continue until March 23, 2024, he resigned from the post on March 15, 2024, ahead of the completion of his term. The state government subsequently appointed Himmat Singh as the new HSSC Chairman.
Known for his administrative and organisational experience, Khadri has remained closely associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for several years. He earlier served as the political secretary to the late BJP MP Ratan Lal Kataria and also worked closely with former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, gaining significant experience in public administration and organisational affairs. A native of Khadri village in Yamunanagar district, Bhopal Singh Khadri comes from a farming family. He began his public life as the elected Sarpanch of his village before entering state-level public service. He later became a member of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission and subsequently rose to the position of its Chairman.Khadri holds a Master’s degree (MA) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). His appointment as the Chief Minister’s Special Grievance Redressal Officer is expected to strengthen the state’s grievance redressal mechanism by facilitating the resolution of public complaints and improving coordination between citizens and the government.The appointment places Khadri in an important administrative position within the Chief Minister’s Office, where he will be responsible for assisting in the monitoring and redressal of public grievances as assigned by the state government.
