Durga Puja Celebrations at Jagadhri Workshop Attract Devotees with Grand Pandal and Dhunuchi Dance

Floral Decorations, Traditional Worship and Community Bhandara Mark the Festival Organised by Northern Railway Employees Durga Puja Committee

The Northern Railway Employees Durga Puja Committee is organising a grand Durga Puja celebration at the Community Hall in Jagadhri Workshop, where a beautifully decorated pandal has become a major attraction for devotees. The festival, being held from October 16 to October 20, features traditional worship, artistic idols, floral decorations and cultural activities dedicated to Goddess Durga.

The committee has extended an invitation to people from the area to visit the pandal, offer prayers and participate in the celebrations. The arrangements reflect the spirit of devotion and community participation associated with Durga Puja.

Grand Pandal Decorated with Flowers

The Community Hall has been transformed into a festive space with an elaborately decorated pandal. The idols installed at the venue have been created by sculptors from Bengal, bringing traditional artistry to the celebrations. The floral decorations and carefully arranged festive setting have added to the visual appeal, drawing the attention of visitors and devotees.

Committee president Umashankar Singh said the festival was being organised from October 16 to October 20. He invited people to join the celebrations and seek the blessings of Goddess Durga. The committee has been working to ensure that visitors can participate in the religious programme in a welcoming atmosphere.

Women Perform Traditional Dhunuchi Dance

A major highlight of the celebrations has been the traditional Dhunuchi dance, performed by women to the rhythmic beats of drums. The devotional dance is closely associated with Bengali Durga Puja traditions and adds a distinctive cultural element to the festival.

During the performance, participants dance while holding a dhunuchi, a traditional incense burner in which coconut husk and incense are lit. The rhythmic movements, drumbeats and devotional atmosphere create a vibrant expression of faith and reverence for Goddess Durga.

Arrangements Made for Devotees

Chandan Kumar said arrangements had been made for devotees visiting the pandal. The programme includes worship and prayers, allowing people to take part in the religious observances throughout the festival.

A community bhandara is also being organised for devotees as part of the celebrations. Such shared meals are an important feature of many religious gatherings, bringing people together in a spirit of service and community fellowship.

The committee has encouraged residents and visitors to attend the programme and participate in the festivities. The celebrations combine religious devotion, cultural traditions and community engagement.

Immersion Planned on Dussehra

The festival is scheduled to conclude on October 20, with the immersion programme planned for Dussehra. According to the committee’s programme, the farewell will take place amid festive enthusiasm, with colours and gulal forming part of the celebrations.

Committee members Jatinder Kumar, Sanjay, Rajesh, Hariom and Shekhar have also invited people to join the Durga Puja programme. The organisers have appealed to devotees to participate in the celebrations and make the festival a collective occasion of worship and cultural unity.

With its traditional idols, floral pandal, devotional dance and community bhandara, the Durga Puja at Jagadhri Workshop is bringing together religious observance and cultural celebration.
