District and Sessions Judge Dr Daya Nand Bhardwaj unfurls the Tricolour during the Independence Day Event organised by the District Bar Association, Jagadhri.

The District Bar Association, Jagadhri, organised a grand and dignified Event to mark the 80th Independence Day at the parking area of the Lawyers Chambers Complex in Jagadhri. District and Sessions Judge Dr Daya Nand Bhardwaj attended the Eventas the chief guest and unfurled the national flag in the presence of judicial officers, advocates, members of the Bar Association and other distinguished guests.
The programme began with the national anthem, with everyone present joining in a solemn expression of respect for the Tricolour and the nation. The atmosphere at the Lawyers Chambers Complex reflected patriotic enthusiasm, while the gathering also provided an opportunity for members of the legal fraternity to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs.
District Bar Association, Jagadhri president Vikrant Singh Chauhan welcomed the chief guest, judicial officers, advocates and other guests. In his address, he paid tribute to the freedom fighters and soldiers whose sacrifices played a decisive role in India’s journey to independence.
Chauhan said Independence Day was not merely an occasion for flag hoisting and celebrations but also a reminder of the responsibilities carried by every citizen towards the Constitution, democracy, justice and the rule of law. He said members of the legal fraternity had a special responsibility in upholding constitutional principles and ensuring that the values of justice and equality remained central to public life.
He emphasised that the Constitution provides the framework for India’s democratic system and that lawyers and judicial institutions have an important role in protecting the rights of citizens. According to him, national occasions such as Independence Day encourage people to reflect on their duties and strengthen their commitment to democratic institutions.
Tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs
The Event also served as a platform to remember those who made sacrifices for India’s freedom. Speakers recalled the courage and determination of the country’s freedom fighters and paid respect to the soldiers who have continued to protect the nation’s sovereignty and integrity.
The presence of members of the judiciary and the legal fraternity added significance to the celebration, particularly because the legal profession remains closely connected with the functioning of constitutional democracy.
Vikrant Singh Chauhan said the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle should continue to inspire present and future generations. He called upon citizens to preserve the values for which the freedom movement was fought and to contribute towards strengthening social harmony, justice and responsible citizenship.
Greetings on Hariyali Teej
The Bar Association president also extended greetings to all those present on the occasion of Hariyali Teej. He described the festival as an important part of Haryana’s cultural heritage and said it symbolised happiness, prosperity, traditions and mutual brotherhood.
The coincidence of Independence Day and Hariyali Teej provided an opportunity to celebrate both national pride and regional cultural traditions. The gathering reflected the spirit of togetherness, with members of the legal community coming together to observe the national festival in a respectful and festive atmosphere.
Legal fraternity participates in celebration
A large number of judicial officers, executive members of the District Bar Association, advocates and other dignitaries attended the event. Their participation reflected the importance attached by the local legal community to national occasions and constitutional values.
The event was conducted by District Bar Association, Jagadhri general secretary Vishal Garg (Aggarwal), who managed the proceedings throughout the Event.
